As much as I would like to have a place in Alaska, I think Mrs MM would tell me to go and she would stay at the place we are at now.

    Thanks for posting.
Hoping to find something near Talkeetna with a view and lots of big trees.

I wonder how many folks buy land after watching some of the Alaska reality shows become enamoured with the TV images and buy land only to have a bit of shock when they see the higher prices, on one show they showed milk at $9.00 a gallon.
Then are faced with the reality of a much tougher life and reality sets in with words of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz: "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. We must be over the rainbow!"

Snoozebum, that is the home of the "Moose Drooping" Festival--lol. My son is stationed at Ft. Richardson(Anchorage) and said he is more than ready to come home. Told him I was ready to eat fresh squash, garden peas, onions already--think it made him sick of the snow/cold. When I told him the tomatoes were blooming he just clammed up--lol. Other son will be coming back with him in Sept. Do not think they want to see snow/ice for the rest of their lives.

Perhaps I painted a bad picture and I should not have. The boys love the fishing/hunting/ open spaces/ and people. They are just Carolina folks used to 9 months of shirt sleeve weather instead of the opposite. Second son may stay--hard to tell about that lad. He has a wandering spirit.

Yup, I've been living 45 miles or so south of there for the last 13 years or so, I'm just looking to get off the road system. There's a lot that I love up here, and, yeah there's a lot that I miss from the lower 48. (Mostly east coast food)

At least your son got stationed at Fort Rich. Haha, if he's feeling homesick there, man, I'd hate to think how he'd be feeling on Shemya island, or one of the real boonie bases.

Sheya is an AirForce Base.... Not a lot of troops get stationed there.... Mostly AirForce Techs, and Contractors....

I'd put my bid in the lottery, but citizenship may be an issue ;)

What if I threw in a schnauzer/terrier mix? Scruffy just decided he had a need to sit his butt down over my feet. I don't wanna have my feet be touching dog butt.

image-6. Bridge. Damn, took my brand new four wheeler out to look at some of the Chase II properties and it wouldn't fit over the bridge from Talkeetna.

Ran into an old timer who lived in the bush on the Talkeetna River trail and talked to him for a while about life out there, so it wasn't a complete waste of time

I forgot, I can't even do sock puppets. Need 30 days on the sight before I can post pics, otherwise I'd have posted pics of that alascom genset in that other thread.

I would have run across on the Track Section, when there wasn't a Train, within 40 miles, myself..... As an Alaska Resident, I am an Owner/Stockholder of that Railroad......
