Gun Control Battle Has Moved Beyond Politicians - US News
What are your thoughts on these retailers requesting you to leave your firearms at home? I for one will continue to CC regardless, wherever that may be...if I ever did go to one of their establishments that promote anti-gun policies... but I will outright not visit an anti-2A established business...and I will do what I can within my sphere to spread the word about their position.

Yet I also do think that rubbing their face in it, with an AR strapped over the back, may be pushing the envelope just a bit in a retail store and may be counter productive to the debate on gun rights. Yes, it is our right to do so, but will it gain support or turn those on the fence away from the viewpoint of constitutional rights vs family safety?

I am concerned about my safety and therefore will carry concealed daily to protect my family, and those around me.... not just to spark a debate or advertise (IE personal Opsec) that I have long rifles nor make me a target with any media attention.

If you are waving the flag in support of gun rights in this outward manner...cool, but is that productive in the debate about gun rights? And as a person prepping for SHTF, is that how you want to show what you have... and your position towards community members that may "remember" you later on?

Anyone who carries a Rifle, around, just because they can, shows a total lack of Common Sense, in My Opinion.... Where is the Common Sense in such a senerio? They are a lot heavier than a Pistol, or Shotgun. Is there any Target that can NOT be engaged with a Concealed, or Open Carried HandGun, anywhere in sight, or even contemplated to be in sight, from where these Folks, are walking around? A shotgun, would seem to be a much better choice, than a Rifle, in these situations, as they car reach out to 100 Yds, but would seem to be less threatening that those "Evil Black Guns" to the Public at Large. It seems to me, they are just GrandStanding, Playing to the Crowd, Looking for Attention, in all the Wrong Places. It must be a self-esteam Issue, for them, or A who Has the Biggest Johnson, debate. It just makes No Common Sense, in my World. The LAST Thing we need is for Politicos to get mixed up in this business. They will just screw it up, beyond recognition. ..... YMMV.....

I know we have the Right, but surprise is more useful in my opinion. If someone DID open up with a weapon, I (with my rifle on my back and useless) would be his first target.
By the time I got it off my back and loaded, I would likely already be dead. (Courtesy of a gunman how eliminated the biggest threat first.)

Murder rate drops as concealed carry permits rise, study claims | Fox News

Why is it that when the study results don't favor the dictators in training it's a "claim" but when they support the continual erosion of liberty it's a "finding"?

Oregonians are lucky because if they enter a business that has a "No Weapons" sign and then are found out to have a concealed weapon the only thing the employees can do is ask you to leave and if you don't you can be arrested for trespassing. Not all states are like that and you can be arrested for not obeying their sign. A perfect example of this going wrong was the 2007 Omaha, NE mall shooting. Since you could be arrested for going in armed there was not one person that fought back when the shooting started. Some laws just need to be broken for your protection and then just hope you don't get caught.

I agree with the others that do not think long gun carry is appropriate. Exercising your 2A rights by carrying long guns into an establishment is just asking for trouble. They know what reaction they will get and in no way will it help their cause. Open pistol carry is appropriate for self defense, but a rifle or shotgun is just plain stupid for defense in a building with multiple people that you don't want to shoot.

I see open pistol carry rarely in town at some businesses and it does not bother me or cause any problems. When I do see someone carrying they do get a extra long look and evaluation then other people get. As long as they don't look whacked, out to lunch or are a dirt bag everything's fine. Take the same normal person with a long gun and then I don't feel safe in there since it is not an appropriate thing to do.

I think the issue for the Texans is that OC of a handgun is illegal there, but a rifle is legal.

Now everything makes more sense. I just thought there was a bunch of really dense people down there.

It turns out I was wrong.

I wouldn't have thought that if I had known what the essence of their protest was about. I never much thought about it, but is that law they are protesting stemming from the end of the civil war? That is the only valid reason I could think of why Texas wouldn't allow OC of pistols.

There are exemptions, for local LE, and others, just go "Read the State Statute".... And you will understand....

As a Texan I support open carry. We can blame the carpet baggers for the restrictions against the polite carrying of pistols. Hence our "while travelling"exemption. That said, I probably wouldn't openly carry most places any way. As already brought up why should I make myself the first target. Let the baddy guess who and how many are going to put him down if he starts something. As far as some of those carrying rifles and shotguns down the street, their decision and not my business.

Its Funny we have these idiots walking around town where I work. They are looking for a confrontation with police for their 15 minutes of fame on line. I tell my guys just to ignore them. The big problem is the Idiot officers who play their game and then look stupid in the video.

The other thing one must look at is this is a form of protest no different than the civil rights marches of the 60's. What started small changed the perception of the masses and changed normal. High visibility carry in public will in the end de sensitize the public to the point it no longer causes concern. Once that occurs and it is normal the idea that you cant carry in public becomes abnormal.

The LEOs in Austin learned that the hard way.And the gun carrier got his 15 minutes of fame. Of course it IS Austin. Most of us here in my little town never thought it was news to start with.

In addition to our own research Second Amendment Check has decided it is worth sharing the work of others. Therefore, we are sharing the NRA-ILA’s lists of:

    “Anti-Gun National Organizations”

    “Anti-Gun Corporations/Corporate”

    “Anti-Gun Publication and Media Outlets”

    “Anti-Gun Individuals & Celebrities”

At Second Amendment Check we always attempt to source our material in our quest to provide objective and credible information. Again, these lists have been compiled by the NRA-ILA, whom we recognize as a credible source of information. Having said that, the exact criteria for making it onto the list are unclear, and the claims of being “Anti-Gun” have not been independently verified or validated by Second Amendment Check.

Also, after having had these lists published on their public website for many months, they have been removed after receiving some recent attention in the alternative media. As noted in the Feb 11, 2013 update in this this Huffington Post article, the NRA-ILA has quietly removed the list from their website, but it can still be found in a web archive from January. The reason for the removal of this list is not yet known. Speculation suggests that the NRA ILA didn’t want to call unwanted attention to itself, or perhaps that it is reassessing or updating that list. Second Amendment Check will attempt to get to the bottom of this mysterious disappearance.

    NRA ILA List of Anti’s:
    ANTI-GUN NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

The following organizations have lent monetary, grassroots or some other type of direct support to anti-gun organizations. In many instances, these organizations lent their name in support of specific campaigns to pass anti-gun legislation such as the March 1995 HCI “Campaign to Protect Sane Gun Laws.” Many of these organizations were listed as “Campaign Partners,” for having pledged to fight any efforts to repeal the Brady Act and the Clinton “assault weapons” ban. All have officially endorsed anti-gun positions.

Just posted the above gun-grabber list in order to better get the word out and to have an archive of such important Second Amendment info on the Monkey Tree.

Our family will do our very best to boycott these gun-grabbing anti-rights organizations-companies-people. "Starve the beast."
