Very good article on a very complicated and emotion-fraught subject. Most Americans will quickly identify with Israel, even though they know next to nothing about the history of the conflict, or the history of Zionism. They will base their opinions on the writings of the Bible, or an anti-Muslim bias, or the fact that Israelis seem more European/Western than the Arab nations surrounding them, or the sense of guilt shared by most of the western world over the holocaust. A knowledge of the history of Israel and Zionism, and the events of the past sixty years, seldom come into play.

I'm not anti-Israeli, and if ever a people ever needed their own country as refuge from the rest of the world, the Jewish people certainly do. The evil which has been directed at the Jewish people over the centuries is a staggering rejection of the mores supposedly embraced by the "civilized world." However, the history of the Zionist movement, its struggle for an independent Israel, and the history of the State of Israel, contain much which is disturbing; and also contravenes the mores of a "civilized" nation - as does the history of our own nation.

Israel is going to have to realize that there are no military solutions to social problems. A hammer can repeatedly knock the crap out of a nail protruding from a board, but the nail is still there. Eventually, in trying to destroy the nail by endless hammering, the hammer will end up destroying the board itself. The board is the nation of Israel, the hammer is the Israeli military, and the nail is the "Palestinian Question." "The Palestinian Question," a problem defined by Israel in much the same way as many European leaders and nations defined "The Jewish Question" throughout history. "What to do with these troubling people?" In both cases, pogroms were tried, ghettos were tried, deportation was tried, but that darned nail was still there. Hopefully, we're beyond another "final solution."

Interesting site Brokor. Too often, criticism of Israel gets dismissed as antisemitism.

Exactly. That's the corporate media for you, always twisting the story to suit the interests of the globalists. The American society is filled with Zionists who aren't even Jews. I especially like the True Torah Jews because they represent true Judaism and actually follow the Torah and teachings of their respected sages.
