    'Plot to blow up planes' foiled
    A terrorist plot to blow up planes in mid-flight from the UK to the US has been disrupted, Scotland Yard has said.

    It is thought the plan was to detonate explosive devices smuggled on aircraft in hand luggage.
    Police have arrested about 18 people in the London area after an anti-terrorist operation lasting several months.
    Security at all airports in the UK has been tightened and delays are expected. MI5 has raised the UK threat level to critical - the highest possible.
    According to MI5's website, critical threat level means "an attack is expected imminently and indicates an extremely high level of threat to the UK".
    BBC home affairs correspondent Daniel Sandford says he does not think the police believe an attack is imminent.

    "The reason for raising the threat level is in case there is some other sub-plot, back-up plot around this that the police aren't aware of," he said.
    Scotland Yard said in a statement that their investigation into the alleged plot was a "major operation" which would be "lengthy and complex".
    "We would like to reassure the public that this operation was carried out with public safety uppermost in our minds."
    Home Secretary John Reid confirmed that there had been a plot "to bring down a number of aircraft through mid-flight explosions causing a considerable loss of life".
    Transparent bags
    The Department for Transport set out the details of the security measures at UK airports.

    Passengers will not be allowed to take any hand luggage on to any flights in the UK, the department said.
    Only the barest essentials - including passports and wallets - will be allowed to be carried on board in transparent plastic bags.
    "We hope that these measures, which are being kept under review by the government, will need to be in place for a limited period only," the statement said.
    BBC journalist Joe Lynam encountered the increased security measures at Gatwick airport.
    "I was handed a piece of paper saying that pretty much nothing could be taken on board the plane," he said.
    "Everything had to be checked in and that includes mobile phones, ipods, wallets - even spectacle cases had to be checked in."
    David Learmount from Flight International Magazine said he expected passengers to be searched much more carefully. He added: "This is the first time this measure has actually been taken. Certainly I've never seen hand luggage banned."

    'Essential items only' as cabin baggage is banned

    Published: 10 August 2006

    Laptops, mobile phones, iPods, and even spectacle cases are banned from hand luggage on flights from the UK as the red alert is put into place.
    A Department of Transport spokesman said: "With immediate effect, the following arrangements apply to all passengers starting their journey at a UK airport and to those transferring between flights at a UK airport."
    All cabin baggage must be processed as hold baggage and carried in the hold of passenger aircraft departing UK airports.
    Passengers may take through the airport security search point, in a single (ideally transparent) plastic carrier bag, only the following items. Nothing may be carried in pockets:
    * Pocket size wallets and pocket size purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards etc (not handbags));
    * Travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets);
    * Prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (eg, diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic;
    * Spectacles and sunglasses, without cases;
    * Contact lens holders, without bottles of solution;
    * For those travelling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger) and sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies, wipes, creams and nappy disposal bags);
    * Female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (eg tampons, pads, towels and wipes);
    * Tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs;
    * Keys (but no electrical key fobs).
    All passengers must be hand searched, and their footwear and all the items they are carrying must be X-ray screened.
    Pushchairs and walking aids must be X-ray screened, and only airport-provided wheelchairs may pass through the screening point.
    In addition, all passengers boarding flights to the USA and all the items they are carrying, including those acquired after the central screening point, must be subjected to a secondary search at the boarding gate. Any liquids discovered must be taken from the passenger.
    British Airways said any of its passengers who failed to comply with the Government's restrictions on luggage and other items would not be allowed on its planes.
    A spokesman said: "Customers are advised to check in as normal but to expect delays at all UK airports.
    "British Airways regrets any inconvenience caused. Any customers not complying with this government instruction will not be accepted for travel by British Airways."
    He added that passengers were advised that no electrical or battery powered items including laptops, mobile phones, iPods, and remote controls could be carried in the cabin and must be checked in as hold baggage.

    Seems a perfect time to send a message with a big summary execution. If these idiots get you in their clutches, they put you on camera and behead you and televise it. Why does not the same fate befall them? A bullet to the head, a hanging, or just bring out the executioner of old with the big glistening battle axe and 'Off with his head'.

    You know when you train a dog what you must do to make him listen to you? Prove you are his master. A dog's mentality is that of the pack mind of old. You are essentially his leader and he will look to you as such. Then you help him, he helps you. This is what these guys would understand. They behead, we behead them. A strike for a strike.

    You think they care if they get a slap on the wrist? Please. They only appreciate one thing, death. Then shouldn't we oblige them? I mean if they want death, why not deliver them to death himself? Would seem like we are doing them a favor.

    All these other idiots around the world say 'Let's talk to them' or they want to whine and complain about them. With a snake, you have to strike it before it strikes you. When you have one within range then you eliminate it. You don't go dancing around it thinking it won't bite you. That is sheer stupidity. Though it is how these criminals are handled. So what if they are put in jail. Their brothers look on and keep on track with their mission.

    Now if we held a public execution of them, the brothers would begin to get the message that we aren't playing around anymore. 'We as Americans are mad as hell and not going to suffer one more attack on us.' There needs to be a decisive all-out, take no prisoners attack that is so vast and swift that it strikes into their very cores with a terror that would put their behavior forever into the category of a nun. This needs to be done and done soon or else this crap may well continue for as long as the arabs and Israel have been fighting.

    We need to take an account and find where every arab muslim country lies and then go ahead with the plan. If they are our enemies or harbor our enemies then they should be paid for that. If they are our allies or against our enemies, then they should stand mouth shut until the smoke clears, then they can sweep up the residue. There is no middle ground when it comes to dealing with these fanatics. It is either all or nothing. You are with us or against us. Simple enough that those liberal pansies can figure it out.

    It is not about controlling anyone, it is about a final retribution that is way past due. The strikes on the WTC was not the first attack and will not be the last, though it damn well should be. I don't care where that scumbag is hiding, if you bomb enough places eventually even the rats run from cover and then you kill them. Simple, swift and final. This is what we need and no amount of posturing, bluffing or talking is going to get it done. Maybe Bush can make it his last act in office. I wouldn't argue with it. The more we drag on, the more Soldiers we lose and that is BS.

    With all the liberals multiplying like rats, pretty soon there will be no more of the good guys to man the guns. Then we will be really screwed because we didn't push hard enough. You know why there is a clandestine manipulator in the background known as the PTB (Powers That Be)? It's because we as Americans allow it to be so. What is power if the people do not follow you? You can have all the power in the world and if nobody follows you, then the only one you can order around it yourself. We need to strip the powers from the PTB and all those that abuse the power given to them. We need to stand up and let these idiots know that the day of reckoning has come and they will do as the American people say or they will be removed from office.

    Well, on to better thoughts. Enjoy.

    INCREASE SECURITY MAY CAUSE AIRPORT DELAYS

    The U.S. government has raised its security threat level in response to a reported terrorist plot in Britain. British officials said Thursday they have arrested more than 18 people planning to blow up planes flying from Britain to the United States.
    The U.S. government raised its threat level early Thursday to "severe or red," the highest level for commercial flights from Britain to the United States. It also stepped up the general level of security for all flights within the United States to Orange.
    U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said arrests made in London have significantly disrupted the terrorist threat, but that it is as yet uncertain that the threat has been entirely eliminated.
    The statement said there is no indication of a plot within the United States.
    The U.S. measure came after British officials said they had thwarted a plot to blow up passenger aircraft in flight, using explosives hidden in hand luggage.
    British Home Secretary John Reid said those involved in the terror plot intended to bring down several aircraft bound for the United States.
    "Overnight the police, with the full knowledge of ministers, have carried out a major counter-terrorism operation to disrupt what we believe to be a major threat to the U.K. and international partners," he said. "The police, acting with the Security Service MI5, are investigating an alleged plot to bring down a number of aircraft through mid-flight explosions, causing a considerable loss of life. The police believe the alleged plot was a very significant one indeed."
    Britain has raised its national public security threat level to "critical" - the highest category, which means an attack is expected imminently.
    Authorities are dramatically stepping up security measures at British airports. Among other things, passengers will not be able to bring any hand baggage with them on planes departing from any airport in Britain. Authorities are allowing passengers to board flights carrying only bare essentials, such as passports and wallets.
    Officials say the measures are designed to allow air travel to continue as much as possible, but are expected to cause considerable delays.

    Here we go people. No liquids unless it's breast milk, baby formula, juice or medicine like insulin. No electronics like cell phones, radios, laptops and more. Before your flight, if it is national, get there two to three hours before hand. If it is international, get there three to four hours before hand.

    Okay, so what happens if someone brings a bag of pretzels on board? Pretzels you say? Yes, pretzels. C4 can be twisted like a pretzel, painted and put into a bag with real pretzels to be used later for an explosive device. How to detonate it? All you need is an electric jolt. Where onboard can you get one of those? What about the lights on the cabin or bathroom? How do you get to them? I'm sure since you can bring fingernail clippers, you can use it like a make shift jimmy to pry the lighting fixture out or unscrew it. Think I should let HS know about this? Yea right. And be taken to the funny farm? I think not.

    See, I'm not a terrorist, though I can find ways to do things. The terrorists will only tweak their plans and come again. While they are doing that, there are more and more restrictions that are placed on Americans. And the sheeple will comply with it. Soon you will have to get to the airport, strip off all clothes and board the plane naked, get to your destination, buy clothes at outrageous prices and then depart the airport. Sound like fun eh?

    Think about this one. People don't want other people to hurt anyone so they outlaw guns, knives, pepper spray, tazers and all other assorted weapons. Someone is later found dead with a pencil in the throat. Hmmm.... Ban pencils? Yay, that will cure it. Ban pencils and pens. While we are at it, why not ban everything? You cannot own, make or think about anything. No houses, no trees, no rocks, no clothes, no thoughts, no nothing. There, we are safe now. Oh wait. Meteors might hurt us. Ban meteors. For that matter ban the planet. It might erupt you know. Oh, let's cut out the middle man. We'll just ban life and everything. Way to go. Yay, nobody gets hurt.

    How insane does that sound? Let's all line up get our numbers and make sure you address everyone in the correct way. Let me hear you, 'Baaaaa'. Good, good. You are learning.

    This is rediculously stupid and is being widely accepted in the name of safety. I'll be glad when the SHTF and this nightmare is tossed out like dirty bath water. Just my thoughts on it.

    I know it realy got to me watching the news tonight. They had the story about this and we all know they cant look closely at folks of midle eastern desent because that would be racial profileing.

    The next story was on the fact that all over the KC area they are banning pitbulls. In the more generous areas the ones already there have to be microchiped to prove they are there now and be kept indoors and muzzeled and on a short leash when out. In the other areas they just have to be removed or destroyed.

    If we get over the conciet, self importance and self importance the simple fact is that 'breed' and 'race' are synonymos we just come up with a different word for people to make us sound more important. The bans on pits are hailed as such a great thing because they are so dangerous and attack people and yet if we so much as look more closely at muslems, especialy young muslem men, who have been responsible for nearly all major terror attacks then it is totaly moraly reprehensable. No all pitbulls bite folks just like not all muslims are terrorists and not all dog attacks are from pit bulls but the vast majority of terrorist attacks (especialy those that effect us) are commited my muslim men and yet its widely supported and passed into law that all dogs of that race have to be treated differently at the least if not destroyed while looking more closely at the people most likely to kill thousands can not be looked at any closer than an 80 year old caucasian woman.

    Ive seen this for some time but the way they had both stories on tonight just reinforced the stupidity of it.

    Listening to CNN right now. They are now saying that the bombers are British. Pakistanis that live in Britain where they are no longer Pakistanis or Muslims, they are British. Does this mean that we are being attacked by the British? No it doesn't. Though it seems like they are trying to point it that way. How can I explain this? Listen, someone needs to point it out that if it's your time to die, it won't matter if it's a bomb or a friggin' heart attack. You will die all the same. So this squeeze on liberties is becoming insane stupidity driven on by those that shepard the sheeple.

    And the sheeple are accepting it. They are already commenting on the fact that while some are irritated at the moment, in a few days everyone will come to accept this new restriction without so much as a whimper. Oh, and latest ban. No pudding or yogurt. Could give someone gas and they may not expel it and could pose a explosive danger to those around them. I can't wait for more restrictions. Whoo hoo. Take my liberties. :rolleyes:

    Ban may become a permanent action as there aren't enough technological screening machines to detect hidden liquids and other explosive stuff. What's next? Anal probes? :mad:

    Breaking News: US Embassy in India states that Moo-bye (Or however you spell it) and New Delhi are being looked at for possible terrorist threat against Americans. Warning is that US Citizens should avoid mass gathering places, keep a low profile and be situationally aware. Good luck to anyone there.

    Actualy they would still most likely be muslim as thats a religion and no a nationality but the majority of muslims (especialy the terrorists) are of midle eastern desent. They were 1st and 2nd generation imigrants from Pakistan to Britan so its still the Pakistanis attacking they are just going by way of some place else, like the ones on 9-11 came here.

    Stuck on the horns of a couple dilemmas here.

    Firstly, it looks like the barn door got shut after the bull got out. Seems silly to me to go to these extremes after the fact. Granted, the perps are found and detained (as opposed to a flight in a Herc with the back door open) and that there might be more of them around, but the risk is actually lower than all the strip searching warrants.

    Secondly, why bother to publish the catch? Just to keep the public informed? Rot. Keep it quiet and let the distant leadership wonder what happened to the scheme. Might be some communications that would lead to the distant leadership if we shut up and listen. 'Course, the public's "right to know" would be infringed, and the libs would all take to the streets in protest. Yes, I want to know if there was a threat, and that it was taken care of, but I do NOT need half the story.

    So next trip I take, I should send my luggage ahead by UPS, turn up buck nekked at the airport? Then freeze my ass off in a chilly cabin because they don't pass out blankets and pillows these days? It could happen that way for me. I've outgrown the itch of modesty anyhow.

    If it happens, in a true TEOTWAWKI way, the nightmare will have just begun. I hope to God I never see anything like that, nor that any of my children do either. Need your appendix taken out, have a bad infection, break a bone, have a baby on the way? There are lots of things like that now are not that big a deal at the present. In a SHTF situation it could be a death sentence. Don't wish for something like that to happen.

    There is a lot of BS that these travelers have to go through, but to be honest after finding out what the terrorist had planed I don't see myself throwing a fit because I had to throw away my shampoo.

    I think that Alex Jones could find a conspiracy behind why I took two [flush] today instead of one. Or three. Anyone who can find a conspiracy behind everything and relies upon those very conspiracies to make a living has about as much credibility as the National Enquirer.

    I am not so worried about an existance during a SHTF life. I am more worried that every day, the more liberties they take, the more the sheeple will agree that it was 'necessary'. That is utter BS. It's like the saying that one day you'll wake up dead. So what do you do? How about give up all your liberties today so you won't have to worry about giving them up tomorrow?

    'It is not with blood and fury that you will be conquered, but with every crumb that is hand fed to you.'

    So it's shampoo today. What's next? Luggage? Clothing? When will people see that it is not going to happen all at once. How do you break a person's will? You do not punch, scream and yell at them. You irritate them little by little each day until they gladly give up all they know and are to be rid of you.

    First it was obvious things like guns and big knives. Then it was pocket knives and nail files. Now it's jello and shampoo. Oh and don't forget to taste test your breast milk for them. So how far do you go for the sake of safety? Should we pass a law banning airplanes now? Yeah, that would make me feel safer. If there are no airplanes, then terrorists can't jack a plane to blow up. That's the way to go. From now on, no planes.

    Don't see the pattern? Equate it to what you already know. At one time you could own nice weapons that spit out lead at an amazing rate. They got banned or you have to have a special license and pay a tax on them. Then they banned 'assault' weapons, which in reality were nothing more than anything you can tap the trigger and fire as fast as you tapped it. So what's next? Single shots? Then outlawed the rest of the knives that haven't already been outlawed? Bans on pepper spray, mace, tazers and so on down the line and pretty soon you can't even own a club made from a broken branch off a dead tree.

    I personally will not fly ever again unless it is absolutely and positively a necessity which for the forseeable future of my life, may be only once. I will not subject myself to this further constriction on what I can and cannot be allowed to carry in the pursuit of a normal day.

    To agree with this BS, IMO, is one of the most infuriating and depressing things that I can think of. Think about this. Do you think the terrorists are sitting back in their HQ saying, 'Ah man. We can't kill anyone anymore. They banned shampoo on airlines.' If you seriously do, then you need a reality check. What happened on 911? Use of box cutters. Am I right? So they banned sharp instruments. What did the terrorists try this time? Liquids. Ban liquids. This will not stop. If you see a chink in the armor of your enemy you aim for it. If your enemy covers that chink, you look for another area of opportunity. So be it with box cutters, C4, Liquids, matches, or whatever else if they decide to attack you can bet they will keep trying until they get it right.

    Something will slip through unless we just go with the nude airlines policy where you bring nothing and wear nothing because you might be hiding something explosive.

    And another thing that may get me in hot water with some people. I have seen about all the 911 movies I care to see. No matter how tragic they make the movie sound, I always wind up the same way. LMAO. Why? Some bomb-jockeys armed with box cutters take over a plane and the sheeple sit there and let them. It was a tragedy, don't get me wrong, though I thought the same thing when I watched the Titanic movie. All those idiots were freezing to death in the water because they couldn't get in the lifeboats though they never thought 'Hey, maybe if I grab a dresser, I could make like a wooden boat to keep me mainly out of the water.' No they went quietly into the hands of death which greeted them with a jester's kiss.

    I may have not been there, nor experienced it in any formal way, though I am not a quitter and when death comes for me, he's going to have his work cut out for him. I guess I'm not like most people. I have no fear of dying as I have been there and done that already. I also have faith that if it's my time to go there is nothing I can do to stop it, so when I get out of my seat and bash a bomb-jockey's head in and live, then I guess it wasn't my time. Know what I mean?
