Gear Review Ultralight Backpacking Stove For $6?

Kovea stoves has an adapter for these stoves that use the expensive lindal? valve type cannisters. Adapts the standard 1lb. cylinders that are available just about everywhere cheaper. Won't perform as well in extreme cold but way cheaper. If you're as cheap as I am another adapter will allow you to refill the 1lb. cylinders from a 20 or 30lb bottle. Use common sense and you're safe.

 

Yup, been refilling 1lb cylinders for about 15 yrs now. Don't know if the adapters are still sold, heard they were outlawed because they work
I bleed my cylinders and put them in the fridge to chill a bit before I refill. Never had a problem.

 

They are easily available and cheap. They are not illegal, anywhere I know of. (If you bleed your 1lb tanks, make sure to weigh them for proper fill. If you do not bleed them, you can not overfill them.

The stove has 1,200 reviews on Amazon and it appears widely popular.
For some reason my brain kept insisting it was Korea not Kovea .

I have one of these, works like a charm and well worth it.

 

If I recall, they do not ship to Hawaii. So I continue to "make do" with my Snow Peak Gigapower.

 

Why do they not ship there?

 

Not sure. I looked a few months ago, thinking to order a couple and it was not going to happen. They either were not shipping to Hawaii or the free shipping for the $5 stove was something like $30. Either way, I ended up not getting it. Forgot which scenario it was.

 

I just sent a package to bear. Cost me like three bucks and change. Is it heavy, flammable, or restricted? If not, send it to me for reshipping.
