    Aloha Monkeys,

Got some great inspiration while talking with @Hanzo this past Monday and decided to test some other ignition sources for #OOOO steel wool other than a 9 volt battery.

I apologize if this has already been done... most people know about the 9 volt and most of the videos I see are using a 9 volt...

This "Old Fart" Monkey just wondered if others would work... I like steel wool... and now I like even better ;)

    For those on dial up....

I used everything from solar chargers, to portable AA chargers, to a single button battery, a single AA battery, a single AAA battery and even my cell phone battery.... and they all work!

For those who want to see the video of each...

Hope you enjoy it and may somehow help you or maybe just a neat thing to show the "kids" ... and maybe consider some #OOOO in your pack... cheap, light and works with a bunch of other things... not just a 9 volt....

    (yes I still carry matches ;) )

Also please don't forget to take a moment to pause, remember and say a little prayer for all those whose lives were forever changed on this day not so long ago....

    Take Care and God Bless....

My brother was carrying a 9vt loose in a pocket with small change, and a pack of matches. The change got hot enough to set off the matches IN HIS POCKET! Set his pants on fire!

Bear, try a piece of graphite pencil lead between a pair of wires and any type battery. Sort of like a lightbulb filament. Also makes a great improvised igniter for potato guns, acetylene sacks, and such.

Thanks @Brokor... @kellory yikes... that must have been a sight to see! them little 9 volt batteries are nasty... there was a warning I read about a guy who has a safety web sight... he had changed all the batteries over the years in his smoke alarms and kept them in a bag in the garage... well you know the story from here... he and his family were lucky to escape the blaze ... house burned down and it was traced to that bag of batteries in the garage....

@Seacowboys thanks for the idea... gonna have to try that... how long a piece and will a C, D, AA or AAA work... or a 9v.... or something bigger like a 12 volt graphite is fun stuff to play with...

@Hanzo LOL... you heard me on the video huh... yup... "Never give up".... Thanks for the comment... glad you put the "and" in there ;)

I've used pencil lead (graphite) in @1/2" long pieces, with batteries, it works just fine.

But my favorite is still the old Zippo zippo-track.
