I always post my food. Would love to see what you guys are eating!

Last night, I made chicken tikka masala and saffron rice for the monkeys. Somehow, they are able to put away way more than I think is possible.

Saffron rice, before and after cooking.

My "curry" paste, made to rub into the chicken.

    Chicken just about done.

    And served.

My little lean 10 year old monkey had four or five servings.

Well I am terrible with the pictures thing, but last night I am not sure whether I ate supper or dessert. I took 2 smoked pork chops, put them in a nonstick skillet and poured maybe 1/2 cup of hard cider over them. Sprinkled them with brown sugar and cinnamon. Then I dumped a can of fried apples over them. I let this cook covered at 240 degrees (precision induction burner) for 20 minutes or so, then removed the cover to do a reduction of the juices. Once reduced to 1/3 or 1/2 I placed 2 slices of fresh rye bread side by side on a large deep plate. Poured juice over bread. A pork chop on top of each slice, and apples over the top. Fork would cut the chops, and a soup spoon was used to savor the juices. All disappeared in seconds. I even shared a piece of pork chop with my faithful rotty guard dog who had sat patiently watching me devour all but that last bite.

Little monkey loves buffets the most. She must have had at least eight servings. Granted, they were not the largest of servings. But I can always count on her to get my money's worth!

Hanzo, I've been reading and looking at the pics on your posts for a looongggg time now. Your food would put our local Chinese restaurants (all 2 of them LOL) out of business within a week!

As for me, I do more traditional 'Murican foods. For instance, last week I finally got my sourdough starter going right and did a couple of boules of sourdough bread. Last night, home made yogurt in my dehydrator, eaten today with sweet dark cherries and sauce and fresh frozen from-my-own-tree-this-summer peaches in heavy sauce. And just cuz, I did a small (5 lb) brisket on my new Char-Broil infrared gas grill....using pecan chips and mesquite wood on one side for smoke, the brisket on the other side with a tasty pot of home canned pinto beans dressed up nice. While I was digging thru the 'fridge for some bacon for the beans, I came across 3/4 lb sweet Italian sausage from last weekend that I ended up making into a nice pot of spaghetti and meatballs along with some frozen hamburger I had. I won't have to cook for all of next week now. :) Unless our 18 yo DS finds out bout the spaghetti. Da boy eats like a locust!! LOL

ditch witch I do stupid crap, so you don't have to

Last night I took a pork belly and rubbed it with olive oil, smoky paprika, chili powder, cayenne, garlic powder, and salt. Let it rest for a few hours, then on a rack on a pan and into the grill. 500F for 15 minutes until the fat turned brown and bubbly, then down to 300-325 for an hour. Poured a couple of crappy beers into the roasting pan and let it go another hour. Out to rest, then shredded for pulled pork.

Today I've mostly had coffee. COFFEE!!!!!!

    caffinated.

Gots me a pot of Ham & Bean soup on the stove for tomorrow's supper.

I don't use recipes but it goes something like this:
    6 quarts water
    3 large smoked ham hocks
    2 large red onions
    A 1 & 1/2 lb mini boneless ham
Yeah its better with a bone-in ham [tongue]

one 2 ounce jar dried garlic bits
    2tbl spoons caraway seeds
    1 & 1/2 cups small red beans
    1 & 1/2 cups Navy beans
    Salt & pepper to taste

    3/4 cup pearled barley

Water, ham hocks, seasonings & onions go into pot, bring to a gentle boil stirring occasionally.
Shave down the ham into teaspoon size pieces set aside about 1/4 of the ham and dice really small.

    Add ham.

Turn down heat, cover and simmer, check tenderness of beans after an hour, when beans are "almost" tender shut off heat and let sit on stove overnight. Add barley the next day and simmer until barley is done.

If you don't like ham hocks let them cool and give them to the nearest dog. He (or she) will love you for this.

Grab a ladle, bowl and a nice big spoon. Goes well with a crusty bread, fresh butter and dark beer.
