This little unit is reasonably bright, CHEEP @ 20 bucks, has 3 light levels (The lowest is enough to read by) top setting is 350 lumens. It's great for power outages, search functions, getting firewood from a dark area, etc. Has a thermopolymer handle that unhinges for hanging on a branch or nail, and a hole top dead center on the handle for 550 paracord or twine. It will run on 4 OR 8 D cells. I use tenergy NMH rechargeables, but it will use any D cell type

It is something like 250 hours on low with the 8 D-cells installed.... I have one as well and put it to good use this week in the kitchen when we lost power for a few hours at night.

I would like to pick up a couple of more as they do work great for area lighting.

rechargeables are a must have for frequent use :)

Do they have a DC in plug?

If you mean a banana jack from 110, no, they are battery only. I bought NMH batteries for the gift lanterns, and charged them up (with a spare set of copper tops for interim use) Supposedly they are GTG for 1,000 recharges. On low, using Yard Dart's figure they are good for 250 hours

Someone even noted that in the reviews for the product on Amazon.... I picked mine up at Fred Meyer... I will have to see if they are at Costco in my AO. I was there last night and forgot to check.

Nice. It is brighter and longer running than mine. May have to go scouting about in Costco. Sometimes, they have great stuff at great prices.

I have a different older lantern. A Rayovac that also takes D cells. I have been using my AA Enerloops with the D size sleeve in it. Works great that way. I can take it on several three day camping trips and not run out of juice.
