    Thanks I love it up there, yea I was into Elk and deer all weekend, got into 20 cows no bulls in the herd, But I’m onto a couple of big bulls, will see how it plays out here, still a little warm yet for rut to kick in.
    I was close to 8k feet over the weekend, man what a view, I know where I want to be laid to rest, wont be many smokers going to the funeral :lol:
    It was 41 degs up there and almost 100 degs in the Valley!
    I was in the middle of 5 feeding 4x4 Bucks at one spot, but I am Elk hunting this year with bow and later this fall rifle hunting for Bucks.
    I will try and keep pics coming each trip out.
    And Hopefully a Pic with My Herd Bull down and Out.:cool:

    Couple of buddies are in your neck of the woods bowhunting, wish I could have afforded the time off work to go. They are also floating the Grande Ronde as we speak.

    Find that bull yet or are you just getting a lot of excercise? Good luck on the hunting.

    Been thinking about buying a compound bow lately but I keep buying other things instead. :D

    Hello first post here.

    Kind of looks like the Eagle Cap area to me.
    Only hunted there once and only saw one elk in 9 days. Small 5 point brought him home though.
    Sept bowhunt in 98.

    Hi Bugle welcome aboard, Yea I don't give up easy on bow hunting, I have killed my fair share on the last evening hunt of the season.
    Your close on the Eagle Cap. its in the Catherine Creek area.
    I'm seeing Elk, Just not the right Bull yet. Most days I run into several Bucks, just no Buck tag ....go figure that.

    I must have been hunting very near there because I still have the Catherine creek topo map from that trip. The biggest frustration for me was trying to get up above the tree line to get a good look around at the surrounding country. THe trees were so thick that I would hike to the top of the hills we were near and still couldn't get a decent panarama type look.

    Reminded me of hunting the Sawtooths in Idaho around Stanely. Before GPS's the only way to find your rig or camp was to hike to the treeline for a look around or walk clear out to the highway to find the road you entered on and walk it back to camp. Never have liked hunting in lodgepole forests.

    Look at your map at the bald Mnt and Bear Wallow spring area and thats it.
    Yea I like the Elk City and the head of the Selway river In Idaho as well, Some day I will retire there.
