I had lost a calf three weeks ago. No body, no blood trail and no damaged fence. Calf was a yearling.

Maybe this guy was the culprit.

None the less I never go out "alone"

    Time to finish that spear.

Nice size cat. Sorry for the calf loss(I know how you feel) but glad you found the cause;)

When things get silent at night, that being no coyotes, then you can figure something big is hunting the yotes.

Yotes have been very sparse the last month or so and we have not seen the usual Jack Rabbits.

No large cat tracks seen here but that's not unusual with our drought and big rocks around the water holes.

I figure we have at least 6 big cats in a 20 mile range, this from other sightings and loss by other ranchers.

HK, where is home? We have found a 5" track in our back driveway. Neighbors have spotted them. Will be putting the NV to use soon. Like others I carry when walking the dogs---and every where else.

    Cental Texas is home.

This is not the first time we've had a rash of big cats but now the game cameras prove what is out there.

Yes, we have a trail camera on our front door right now.

Best to know first, good part is that I have a 360 OP around our home.

Now is the time to buy the new faster trail camera and anyone I have one camera that has the remote so I can check before I go outside.

I know we have some around here, have only seen one younger half grown one I caught in the headlights on an early morning.

    CaboWabo5150 Hell's coming with me

We ( and our neighbors ) have been seeing them for years in Northern Michigan. Usually one sighting per year and some tracks around the same time. We think they are just passing through. One morning about 4 or 5 years ago right after I bought my property and moved in, I was leaving for work ( still dark out ) something growled at me, sounded like it was coming from the barn roof. I growled back, figuring it was some small critter, got in my truck and left. When I came home in the daylight, there was a trail of deer fur going up my driveway. I got out to investigate, and found something had killed a deer across the street in the woods ( looked like a deer exploded ) and then dragged it up behind my garage where I found the remains. Not much left. I was trying to figure out what would kill a deer and drag it like that. We've got lots of bears, coyotes, and some wolves. Oh yeah, and then I remembered my neighbor telling me to keep an eye out for big kitties.. Since that day I have never gone outside in the dark, or out to the outskirts of the property without a sidearm. No tigers, but we've got lions and bears, oh myy...

Here is an interesting story about one Cougar.. But it does show how much distance they travel..

That list is well outdated , I live in Bear,Wolves & Cougar country , Seen three yogi's this winter & a few cat trax .. Wolves have moved further into & up valley due to city folk leaving & pretending to ruff it in the rural. Last 3 years I heard of 3 attacks but lets get serious , take out your rodent size fluff - fluff , smelling of cooked liver in your pockets for treats , What do you expect ..

Same as campers who cook & eat their meal in the back/BEAR country and then sleep , Eat cooked meals @ lunch , burn all & clean , make dinner to eat later while minimal smells will attract while sleeping .
If we could smell as they could , You might have a chance.
