We all know water is good, but being chained to the bottom of a pool is bad. With that in mind, let's talk about oil.

I will be the first to say I LOVE the price I have been paying at the pump. When I started driving gas was $ .97 and that was great FOR THAT TIME. When gas hit $4 about 2 years ago, I accepted it as the new norm, did not like it, but I adjusted my habits accordingly and life went on. Yesterday I paid $1.97 a gallon for gas, and although I was happy about the price and plan on stocking up soon, it got me thinking, what would be the consequences if gas DID go back to $ .97 a gallon. It is easy to say don't worry about it, it will never happen, but 2 years ago I never thought I would see gas under $3 ever again.

So whats you input? both foreign and domestically what is the possible outcomes of all this cheap oil?

All I know is right now, I see some Pri-G and 55 gal drums in my near future:D

And while I'm no fan of Chavez or his administration, Venezuela is in going to be in trouble. I don't know if that was an "unintended consequence" or not but the people of Venezuela don't necessarily deserve to get hammered.

Well, I like that it doesn't take over 100 bucks to fill up, but I don't like the size of the royalties checks that have been coming in the mailbox...

It costs a LOT less to fill up the tanks on our vehicles, which is good since the Mr.'s hours just got cut thanks to low oil prices. :/ So yay to saving $100 a month in fuel, and boo hiss to losing $400 a month on the paycheck.

Stockpiling gasoline is not a good idea, especially that with added Ethanol. The alcohol attracts water and spoils the fuel for anything except starting a bonfire. Storing "Clear" or "Boat Gas" would require the addition of stabilizers and they will gel over time.

I'm liking the prices, too but remember gas at $.45/gallon. back when $5 filled the tank......

It's not the gas prices, it's the price of diesel fuel.People don't understand that every material thing we need gets transported 3 times by truck. Raw materials to the factories where they are made into goods, then goods to a warehouse, then from the warehouse to the store. Produce goes from the fields to a packing house, then to a grocery warehouse, then to the store. At each stage, the cost of the fuel is factored in to the price. High fuel costs mean that everything costs more for the people paying for it out of paychecks that are losing purchasing power through the government's reckless use of printing presses.

This isn't happening because of a "glut of supply" as stated in many MSM places...
There is NO CORRELATION AT ALL to supply vrs demand with gas/oil/diesel/nat gas.
The whole damn thing is rigged...and this is no regular pump and dump scheme...
IF it stays under $50/barrel for the whole year - it's war with someone...prolly OPEC vrs BRICs.

My oil checks are smaller too.. I bet mother one of us is getting rich.I did lease some land oil royalties. The landmam (the guy that hunt's down all the royalties owners) said the USA is actually oil independent. No reason for him to lie about this. We do sell and ship.a lot of natural gas
Too many people out of work and more than a few friends that are not working because of oil prices. Most of us had figured the cost of gasoline in our expenses. All things considered I will be happy to.see.the price of crude go back to at least $50.00 a barrel and it will be even better at $100 a barrel. I think it will bottom out around $30.00 a barrel and then slowly climb up.

My take in the low fuel prices is this: Governments need to raise money for road/bridge repairs. When fuel prices are high, no one is willing to go along with an added tax on fuel. Lower the fuel price, then they can say an additional tax won't hurt a bit. After the tax is passed, the fuel price will rise again. I expect to see it back at $4 a gallon before the end of the summer, and I will be happy if I am wrong about this one!

Ugh, just got a text... his hours got cut again. He's now gone from 70 to 40. With no overtime, we'll be on the wire.

At least we don't need to buy supplies or groceries for a long, long while. :)
