Not wanting to start any conflict but I believe things are turning very bad either by war in the middle east or a debt growing out of sight, how much should we live by faith and how much should we prepare for on our own.

 

How much should we live by faith ?
I'm no bible scholar but is it not said the Lord helps those who help themselves ?

How much should we prepare for on our own ?
Keep in mind one cannot prepare for every possible scenario.
Pick the most likely scenario (s) you may encounter and prep for them.

I believe God expects you to do everything he has given you the mind and money to do before he will hear your prayer for mana from heaven.

 

This I believe. I have seen it twice when people were down to their last nickle. These people were true Christians and never lost their faith. At the last moment before the homes were lost and bankruptcy was filed, something would happen and their circumstances would turn around. I do believe that He is not supposed to take care of us i.e. no welfare from heaven.

 

Honestly I think you might end up with a better discussion in the Faith and Religion forum away from us heathens...

@hillbill if you are a wise man and a godly man then there should be no question. We may think we have discovered something new in getting prepared just in case but I think it is obvious that our ancestors knew, storing is wise.

 

I went there a few times early and was basically told in a PM that my kind wasn't welcome there so I quit going...been too long since I read that particular book to remember citations.

I know just enough of the good book to get myself in trouble with someone very familiar with it.
Always up for a gospel discussion (in the proper forum though).

That particular passage from Timothy is one of my favorites and one I used to win a discussion with a church member who thought I shouldn't have my sidearm with me in church.

 

thanks for all the post especially the heathens their my kind of people.ive spent years on both sides of the fence but when your heavey into drugs and cant quit its nice to get on a new path.picked up a lot of things I haven't thought of.
