I picked up a kit for a Steyr STG-58 at the gunshow this weekend and was thinking about this reciever. Wonder how enforceable that 7-parts thing is? This doesn't have squat to do with interstate commerce so why should the BATFE be concerned?
If they ever come looking they would use the 922 conviction if nothing else was found. Thats my thinking, and its only a few dollars more anyway and they are American Made small parts. The Hammer Trigger and sear makes it shoot much nicer.
This parts thing seems like another one of those stupid entrapment things. If I put domestic parts on then how will they be able to tell? Do I have to surrender my rifle to some nosey BATF guy so he can look for made in the USA stamps on them? Do I have to carry a reciept book with me when I go hunting? I just don't understand all this stupid stuff...what kind of criminal would spend the time to learn gunsmithing, spend the money on tools, and scour the bargain basements for select parts to carefully build somehing he can steal or buy from the local crack-gangsta?
Every part ive bought has the USA stamp, the only ones that dont are the ones home made like wood stocks etc.... Yea Sea its a bunch of BS........ but who wants to go to the pen for that? I can see it now, whats you in here for Quig???? ahhhhh =gun parts...
Just ordered a DSA reciever today. They say 4-6 weeks delivery of the next batch. Cut the old reciever portion from the barrel today and am breaking everything down to clean and park. The stock and grip will probably be two of the U.S. parts, as the ones on it are kinda grungy.
almost the same with my fal. but i had a imbel rec so i swapped out the chargeing handle to get my 7. sec 922 sucks!
