LAFAYETTE, Louisiana (AP) -- Willie Nelson and four others were issued misdemeanor citations for possession of narcotic mushrooms and marijuana after a traffic stop Monday morning on a Louisiana highway, state police said.
The citations were issued after a commercial vehicle inspection of the country music star's tour bus, state police said in a news release.
"When the door was opened and the trooper began to speak to the driver, he smelled the strong odor of marijuana," the news release said.
A search of the bus produced 11/2 pounds of marijuana and 0.2 pounds of narcotic mushrooms, according to state police.
A call to Nelson's publicist wasn't immediately returned.
Also cited were Tony Sizemore, 59, of St. Cloud, Florida; Bobbie Nelson, 75, of Briarcliff, Texas; Gates Moore, 54, of Austin, Texas; and David Anderson, 50, of Dallas, Texas.
Each was released after being issued a citation.
Nelson, 73, has recorded songs including "On the Road Again" and "City of New Orleans."

One and a half pounds of dope , at 73 that should be enough for the old man to die in prison once convicted .

I don't care for the kiddie treatment they give drug addidicts .

The wholesale acceptance of drugs and porn was the start of the long downhill slide or morality in this country 50 years ago and we haven't stopped it yet .

He's a singer/song writer, not a airline pilot. I just don't see what the hoopala is about people that play games for a living (football?) or music or act in movies smoking dope. If I wasn't a captain with other's lives in my trust, I would probably smoke a joint now and then too. Our so-called "War on Drugs" is what gave the BATFE the power to turn tanks against our churches and has militerized our police departments into what gives all indications of Hitler's SS. John Wayne is dead and we don't have any more heroes or role models except snoopdog or one of the other ghetto side-shooters. Did you ever hear anyone say they want to grow up to be just like Bill Clinton or Rush Limbaugh? How about Mike Tyson or Rosey McDonald? I think we should have a national "SMOKE a JOINT DAY" and everybody just chill out with some oreos and some orange crush and listen to "Suger Magnolia".
Sugar magnolia, blossoms blooming, heads all empty and I dont care,
Saw my baby down by the river, knew shed have to come up soon for air.

Sweet blossom come on, under the willow, we can have high times if youll abide
We can discover the wonders of nature, rolling in the rushes down by the riverside.

Shes got everything delightful, shes got everything I need,
Takes the wheel when Im seeing double, pays my ticket when I speed

She comes skimmin through rays of violet, she can wade in a drop of dew,
She dont come and I dont follow, waits backstage while I sing to you.

Well, she can dance a cajun rhythm, jump like a willys in four wheel drive.
Shes a summer love for spring, fall and winter. she can make happy any man alive.

Sugar magnolia, ringing that bluebell, caught up in sunlight, come on out singing
Ill walk you in the sunshine, come on honey, come along with me.

Shes got everything delightful, shes got everything I need,
A breeze in the pines and the sun and bright moonlight, lazing in the sunshine yes
    Indeed.

Sometimes when the cuckoos crying, when the moon is half way down,
Sometimes when the night is dying, I take me out and I wander around, I wander
    round.

Sunshine, daydream, walking in the tall trees, going where the wind goes
Blooming like a red rose, breathing more freely,
Ride our singin, Ill walk you in the morning sunshine
Sunshine, daydream. sunshine, daydream. walking in the sunshine.

Isn’t the DEA (Drug enforcement Agency) doing the war on drugs and the BATFE is (Bureau of Alcohol tobacco and firearms enforcement)?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

The BATFE used a made-up meth lab at Waco to gain military hardware and training prior to their raid. The tanks were loaned to the FBI with the same justification. Lying about the guns and child abuse wasn't enough so they used the war powers act (war on drugs) to get tanks and personnel, including at least ten Delta troops.
This was verified and confirmed at Senate hearings.

IIRC, the justification for the original warrant was AR15s converted to full-auto. Probably those way-too-soft drop in sears, which I still believe were a BATF entrapment, they built them, sold them, then came busted the buyer in a few weeks.

The raid on Waco was planned before Klinton ever took office, and executed as quickly as possible. Its purpose was to make it acceptable in the American people's mind to kick doors down and burn children alive in the war on "guns and drugs," as Slick Willy used to say.

Klinton at the U.N. yesterday, if he's there, there's something in it for him. Ambassador if Hillary gets elected, trying to remake his image ala Jimmy Carter, something.

You are quite correct in the fact that a warrant was written by the ATF for firearms violations. That was not the warrant being served on the day of the raid. You are quite correct in that the ATF does not enforce state laws governing sexual and aggravated sexual assault. They do however, and have many times before Waco, piggy backed state based warrants due to the once very severe restrictions and requirements of federal warrants. At one time, pre patriot acts, the feds would actually lobby state law enforcement to write warrants for the soul purpose of piggy backing their warrants. The feds would then write warrants citing state warrants and evidence as affiants and PC.

The soul, solitary warrant being served on the day of the raid was a search warrant relating to materials supporting the commission of felony sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault charges relating to children within the church. Additional warrants were indeed written the same day of the raid and signed by federal judges. Those warrants included both arrest warrants for David Koresh/Vernon Howell along with several others and search warrants. The only reason the possible several hundred thousand rounds were mentioned in the warrant is that it lends credibility and reasonable suspicion to believe that full auto weapons were in the church based on the liklihood that full auto weapons require a lot of ammunition to keep them going.

This was from another site posted by a Texas LEO
I will find the mention in the Congressional hearing minutes that support the request for tanks and military advisors under the suspicion that the Branch Davidians were operating a meth-lab and post it here.

I believe you, my memory of the facts is fuzzy. Which is a shame, Klinton should be on trial for crimes against the American people. I think the tanks and psychological warfare advisors were provided to the FIB BTKT. (Burn The Kids Team, formerly known as the Hostage Rescue Team.)

They were after waco for drugs too? Im confused here

Exactly what they were doing, trying to confuse everybody. AR 15s converted to full-auto were on the warrant, or a warrant, but that evidence was never produced in court.

When you lose your way, your purpose to exist, it causes confusion and further loss of purpose. As Federal law enforcement officers, they swore to defend and uphold the Constitution of the U.S., not the government against the people. There is a difference. Waco should have caused Klinton to be impeached, the Dimmocrats just liked power more than ethics and morality. Like Moses wandering in the wilderness for 40 years, we as a society still have no purpose and direction.

Really makes me sick listening to all the partisan rhetoric BS about questioning terrorists. REALLY makes me think we won't make it AT ALL. The rhetoric makes it impossible to really figure out what's going on.

It they're NOT an American citizen, the Bill of Rights doesn't protect them. Hell, it just barely gives us any protection, and that depends on day of the week, and the court. If we aren't at war, and they don't have on a uniform, the Geneva convention doesn't protect them anyway.

Willie Nelson's public statement regarding being caught with a bag of Marijuana earlier this week:

"It's a good thing I had a bag of Marijuana instead of a bag of spinach. I'd be dead by now."
