Ive been listening to the audio of one second after and in all reality if a EMP or something of that nature happens no matter how well you are prepaired, without a group comeing together the odds of the masses comeing your way will be hard to overcome.or am I wrong.
Depends on a lot of things: location, network of neighbors, etc. I believe almost anything can be overcome.
I agree with @melbo it does depend on your locations. I liked One Second After and it is one of the reasons I am on this site. I do recall that people first thought to go to the cities thinking they would get aid. IMO the outlying areas/suburbs would be the hardest hit because I think a majority of people really couldn't go far. They would be paralyzed with cluelessness.
where I live I don't how it would go here I still live out in the country and we have about 70 acers woods and fields but my two story house would be hard to secure
My bugout location is 50 miles from a city of 250k. I think there will be a couple of weeks to prepare then they will come in a steady stream for about a month then trickle off. Then the bad ones will come every now and then. These are the ones to worry about because they have figured it out and banded together.
It will take a couple of weeks for the City Folks to run out of food, and begin to head out this way....nobody will be walking, they will be coming by boat.... If they continue to come after the Wheelhouse Windows are shot out, well the Crabs will eat good for a few days....
@T. Riley has a good point, you should have a few weeks to prepare. I do not think my house could be secured, too many windows. Saying that it would be best if I secured a perimeter. Slowing them before they go too close.
In a "perfect world" a layered or ringed perimeter would be great. Have no idea if this could/would work for you, but it might be something to consider. Again, this may not work for your home, but windows can shuttered, boarded or otherwise covered up. Most likely won't stop many bullets, but will at least slow/stop entry through them. My
