    clover.
I have noticed that many of my herbal teas have clover in them. Upon research I see that wild clover has been used for medicinal purposes for years. Clover grows wild and the whole plant seems to be edible and medicinal. This is one herb that can be easily found but when harvesting please stay away from roads and lawn that may have been treated with chemicals. Best to harvest in wild areas. Can be dried and used both internally and topically.

    Great video-

Also, clover is a favored deer food. If you plant a large food plot of clover, you will feed the bees, the deer, and yourself with venison. Followed by tea, and biscuits and honey.

Sweet. Been trying to figure out how to sneak some of those nutrients into my bushcraft kit. I'm not too good with the herbals yet. We have enough clover to farm the stuff in places.

I was happy to learn about the healing properties of clover because this is so easy to identify. I know clover and it will be so easy to find, harvest and can't wait to try drying it.

Your title was what attracted me to this thread, because I did not know that there was any clover that wasn't wild.

Does 4-leaf clover have better healing properties?

@azrancher you are correct, clover is wild so there would be no need to call it wild clover but I do. I hope you got more out of the info than that.

I plant clover, the seed is treated and it stores for years in the sack, is it wild?

Yes I found it very interesting, I tried to raise red clover under a row of Austrian Pine that I put in about 10 years ago. It didn't establish very well, and has died out.

It could be the PH, but most likely it's the temp. Red clover thrives best in cooler climates.

Clover here, two types grow in my area in the early spring. Bounty now due to rain. Clover will kill incoming grass unless heavily grazed. Clover can be a pest.

a weed is anything that grows where you don't want it to be. Clover can be a pest for you, but deer can not eat grass, so for them, clover is food. But clover will not grow well with such a heavy ground cover, such as pine needles, not enough sun for such a low plant. It does best in fields, and mixed with other crops such as corn or wheat.

We have patches of clover, here in our open areas... It is a very different Genetic Strain than most clovers, as ours has one or two Four Leaf Clovers per 100 Sq Ft..... When my children were young, they made good Money, picking them each spring, and the Plasticizing them, and selling the results, for $5US, in the local store, and back Home, down in the FlatLands, during the winters.... Paid for all their Store Candy, and Goodies, during their Childhood. Also kept them busy, out of the cabin, and engaged in a Family Friendly enterprise. The only issue was to watch out for the Bears, that were browsing on the Dandelions, growing in the same fields.

You might try Bahai grass, it is a dry land grass and works well into central Texas. It is also known as Orchard grass for it likes the shaded areas under trees.

Can be purchased on ebay as a certified seed.

For three years I have been introducing it into the rocky shaded areas and have found it to winter over under the tress where the frost is less likely to damage it.
