Our own Mr. Law and Order, @E.L. When the survivalmoneky community was but a cowpath on the digital superhighway, we were an assorted group of semi-savage spirits who came together in the belief that knowledge was power - not power over others but power over the circumstances in which we might find ourselves. Like any community, we have our characters; our SM Pastor Minuteman, the enforcer Quigley_Sharps, our curmudgeonly engineer ghrit, the good will ambassador Tracy, the medic phishi, E.L, who looked after our knowledge of food safety, our financial wizard Clyde, the benevolent and patient master of the manor melbo and yours truly who rounded out the mix as the local wordsmith and poet. We were also joined by a parrothead (CRC), a minstrel (Seacowboys), a knife collector (TLynn), our plumbing contractor (ColtCarbine - originally BTK which scared us all) and a few other miscreants from the original group A few years ago, E.L. decided that being a Texas Lawman would suit the next stage of his life so with his training, he also became our official LEO. Now we're all a little older and wiser??? and slightly less savage and celebrating birthdays together as well as marriages, moves, children and sharing grief. So for the 10th time in as many years, happy birthday E.L. and many, many more.
For even further background pre-monkey, I once flew my wife down to TX where we stayed with the E.L. family for an AK-47 building party. To this day, we still create some dishes that Mrs. E.L. prepared for the crew of 17 or 18 happy AK builders.
Many thanks, so many good memories from my friends here who are like family. I'm never that far away from the monkey, it will forever be my home. That "cow path" we started seems like just yesterday.
Brother I wish, right now I'm driving 200 miles a day covering for one of my guys that retired. One of his plants works 7 days a week too. Hopefully they will have his replacement hired in a month or two.
Happy Birthday @E.L.! While that slowing down thing ain't all its cracked up to be, it ain't all bad either!
