I don't know about that. I was taught to walk away from any fight you could, but if.you could not...win. Just encouraging your child to do his best is not in any way a crime, to my lights, and I always knew my folks had my back. Weather it was an unfair teacher, or a principle who was more afraid of being called a racist, than doing the right thing.
I was sucker punched by a black kid bigger than me, and the teacher thought I should just accept it. I beat the stuffing out of my attacker, and it was the ONLY RACIAL fight of the year!! (Even though race had nothing to do with it).
The principal wanted to suspend ME for fighting back, and let my attacker walk.
My Dad put the fear of God into that principal, both threatening to go public with it, and threatened to teach him how it felt to be beaten by someone larger. Did he really feel that he should just accept being beaten, or did he feel there was some reason to fight back?
My Dad is a Deacon in the Church. I have seldom ever seen him that mad! I knew he would support my decision to defend myself, no matter WHAT the school system had to say about it.
I don't even need to watch the video to know there is more than one possible side to it.

You should watch the video, the mother was egging the fight on while the teacher was trying to break it up. The mother in question has a rap sheet that includes domestic violence and drug abuse. There was nothing racial about. Both kids are the same "race". The mother has been a constant pain in the butt to the staff at the school. The school is in a rough part of town, that is one of the reasons why my buddy teaches there. He wants to work with troubled youth. There is no "other" side to it. The "mother in question has two other kids that me and the rest of you support. Look at the news clip and tell me that she is a good mom. I can not imagine egging my girl on in a fight, for that matter my son either ( actually step-kids). Both kids are suspended. The "mother " is the poster child for welfare abuse and her kids will most likely end up just like the mom, sucking off the government tit. I will say it again watch the video. She is raising future felons.

Are we supposed to be sad about the state of this mother and her daughter..... they are a product of our current society. Just another tragic story of those sucking off the teat of the .gov.... and our tax dollars.

I don't know what sad has to do with it. The emotion that came to me was anger. I have spent time with at risk youth and being a product of our current society has nothing to do with it, some people are just really crappy parents.

The woman's past, has nothing to do with the event itself, bringing it up is to bias the event.
Egging on a fight, is NOT a crime. Supporting your kid is NOT a crime. Weather you like the woman or not.
And if your buddy likes working with troubled kids, he should be thrilled....he gets his fondest wish.;)
The mother is accused of "child endangerment .".......great, so every parent who teaches his kid to ride a bike should be charged as well. Or climb a tree, or a cliff, or any sport that had the possibility of injury.
This is another case of .gov getting involved where it does not belong.

Egging on a fight between two minors is a crime in new mexico. I can not for the life of me understand why you would take up for this women. It is not the place of the government to prosecute a crime? You are okay with violence at school? I do not understand the response to my posts. My dad taught me to ride a bike and he was never accused of "child endangerment". I might be too sensitive but is seems there is some trolling going on here.

You are right.... You are too sensitive.[raspberry]

Kids are being taught to look to government to solve all their problems. That is completely wrong. It is not what our Forefathers did, nor is it acceptable to me. (Nor, should it be OK with you. Prepping is all about self reliance)
Kids need to work out their own differences, and sometimes that does mean violence. You can not "debate team" your way out of a butt kicking. You have to man up and set boundaries.
Egginging on a fight is a crime, exactly WHY? Who is the victim, who is taken advantage of? What property is damaged? Who is harmed in ANY WAY?
Does it hurt someone's feeling? So what? That is not a crime.

I am done. Really do not want to argue, if you can not see what is wrong with it then I do not know what to say. And no you are trolling. Are you still mad about the randy weaver comment. If so why pollute the thread with it, just pm me if you want to argue.

What randy weaver comment? And no, I'm not trolling, I just disagree with the idea of charging parents for supporting their kids. I disagree with looking to government to solve every little dispute. That ain't the job of government. We GIVE government way too much control, and we do it willingly, then complain because government has and uses the power we gave it.

If this was a crime in Canada...my grandparent and my mom would have had to serve hard time for watching me play hockey. Interesting how some folks immediately whelp "WELFARE MOM DRUGGIE!"....

Sounded to me me like whoever had the camera needs to go into the fight business. He commands, they listen. Was that the mom on the outside of thefight to the right? If so, she is smaller than most of the kids there.

I don't know anything about the rest of the discussion, but having watched the video, there must be some local knowledge in play, cause I really didn't see anything. If you can walk me through the tape to something I missed, I would appreciate it.

Okay, so if it is a state sponcered event like football or soccer, then every parent in the stadium should be charged with a crime of egging on a fight? What's the difrence? How about rugby parents? Given the injuries that game claims, it surely should be outlawed. Or soccer! It claimed my daughter's knee, so I should go to jail for letting her play, and cheering her on? Or it is the fact the the STATE did not say it was ok to do, first?
So which is it, because you can't have it both ways. Either outlaw ALL SPORTING EVENTS that could result in injuries, or keep government out of personal disputes.

I do have inside knowledge. The mother is a pos. Played rugby in college, never as violent as what I happened in that video. The mother took the girl to the area to start the fight and she will go to jail where she belongs.

So we judge by violence level? Like boxing? Or how about mixed martial arts? Should my parents go to jail because they allowed me to study martial arts?
fisticuffs, as a sport is a time honored tradition, and we as a country revered traveling fighter in bare knuckled brawls. (I could cite hundreds of fighter's names and stats if the need arose) posters would appear in each town and fighters would take on the town brawler, or even all challengers. Money was made and lost in dirt floored square rings, and barroom Salons.
Again, fighting is not a crime.

Actually fighting is a crime and depending on the outcome it can be a felony.

No, it's not. Any two people can decide to best each other to a bloody pulp, and no one has the right to say they can't. Circumstances determine if it is a crime or not, such as a mugging, assault, battery.
If we chose to do so, you and I could square off, in public or private, and no one could say anything besides "go somewhere else". The act is not illegal.
