Maybe it was her first day on the job and she didn't know how to load it.

In this smilie it looks a lot like the cannonball lands on Osama's foot. OSB

Mother, mother ocean, I have heard you call,
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall.
You've seen it all, you've seen it all.

Watch the men who rode you, Switch from sails to steam.
And in your belly you hold the treasure that few have ever seen, most of them dreams, Most of them dreams.

Yes, I am a pirate two hundred years too late.
The cannons don't thunder there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late.
I've done a bit of smugglin' I've run my share of grass.
I made enough money to buy Miami,
But I pissed it away so fast,
Never meant to last, never meant to last.

I have been drunk now for over two weeks,
I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks,
But I've got to stop wishin',
Got to go fishin', I'm down to rock bottom again.
Just a few friends, just a few friends.

I go for younger men, lived with several awhile
And though I ran away, they'll come back one day.
And still could manage a smile
It just takes awhile, just takes awhile.
Mother, mother ocean, after all these years I've found
My occupational hazard ...being my occupations just not around.
    I feel like I've drowned,Gonna head uptown. ...

And back to the javelin. No, that is not the first time it's happened. Back when I was running, one of the opposing team let fly, well within the boundary, and the judge was not quick enough to get out of the way. Again, the foot. Another one, a couple years later, managed to take one thru the sternum and out the back on the right side, propped him up like a tent pole. He lived, IIRC.

Shot putting has it's hazards as well. Stay well clear. One of our guys caught a 16 lb practice shot in the kidney, and he was clear of the danger zone, just a bad put by the practicer. Laid him out cold. Recovered in time for the next season.

Never saw nor heard of a discus hitting anyone on the fly, but there have been some cases where they landed flat (as opposed to edge on) and skipped into someone.

    Ouch.

I had to laugh when I saw this.

Back in High School there was this idiot in my phys ed class who's exercise mainly comprised watching old kung fu movies. I threw the javelin and the damn fool ran out and tried to catch it like something in a movie.

He caught it alright. The result was much like the foot in this photograph. High School was largely forgettable but I will never forget that.
