coping with wasps, bees, hornets,etc.

I have a bees & wasps making a home inside my walls....Is there any household product that can be used to kill them..liquid soap or anything normally kept in the home?

A can of that highly expanding spray foam from Wal-Mart would solve all your problems, entomb the wasps forever, seal the hole to prevent more nests, insulate the wall there from the air flow/ leakage.

 

WD-40 works about as good as anything I have ever tried.

 

We have the problem of paper wasps building nests EVERYWHERE around our house. I've tried many, many things to get rid of them. The one product that works every time is Spectracide Pro. It will "disable" them instantly from 20 feet away. It has other benefits also. It is a dielectric up to 43,000 (or is it 47,000) volts and will keep the little buggers away from 4-6 weeks.

I have only found it at the big home improvement stores.

Wait until dusk and liberally spray that into the hole. If you wait until dusk, all of the wasps should be on the nest. Spray enough to soak the nest and kill the larva. After spraying the nest, seal up the hole. If you seal it up before killing all the wasps/bees they WILL find a way into your home.

Let us know how it works out. I have been killing red wasp all summer. They are getting sneakier about where to place their nest. The last two were in a decoratory bird house, and underneath a giant rocking chair. Those are now dead. I wonder if the rest are getting more creative?

 

Well the very best thing I know of for killing insects and especialy wasps is plain old gasoline, imobleizes them on contact and kills them within a couple of seconds. Not sure that would be the best thing to pour into the walls of the house though and if so just be REAL careful of any electrical wireing or flame/spark/heat source. I use it a lot in the out buildings and it evaporates after a few hours but inside a wall would take longer and may put fumes into the house. One thing I have done some times with the wood bees that bore into lumber and such is to soak a piece of TP or cloth in gas and use that to plug their hole. When they try to get around/through it it kills them and have had decent sucesss with that.

As mentioned WD-40 works pretty well also and while not nearly as flamable, still it burns real well so while safER still use same precautions.

Aside from comercial wasp/insect killers, those would be the main ones that pop to mind. If you have to go buy something to deal withthem try to get to a farm supply place. I dont recall the names but there are sprays that are made for use in dairies and around livestock and such for flies and other insects that do REAL well on them. I wouldnt spray it in a closed room I was going to be in though...a 2-3 second spray in a huge room closed up and checked a few hours later at the dairy I worked at had the floor covered in dead flies. Supposed to be safe to be there as I understand but no intrest in finding out.

 

The best I've used is Brake Cleaner or Carb Cleaner. It just sucks the life out of them on contact super fast.

 

Yeah I think its prety much any of the petrolium products.
