Monkeys play sports... Tennis and soccer. They both run. Little monkey much more than the big one. Big monkey has no trouble cranking out a 5k and still being pretty fresh after. Little monkey too. But little monkey has also run 5-6 miles on steep trails. So she likes running stairs to train. The both swim. Big monkey has the better form. When they were in swim classes, the coach said she has the best stroke of his students and thought she would be very competitive on a swim team. But she just wants to swim for fun. Little monkey has a good stroke too. And she is more determined. After not swimming since last summer, she started up again. And is cranking out a km at a time. She will probably get to a mile soon. They both have no fear of depth and have jumped in from a 10m height. Little monkey is also a body weight and core exercise fanatic. Now if only I can get them to seriously do martial arts...
Tried to get my son interested in Kenpo. I went more often to class ten times what he did. Then he joined the Marines, go figure!
I played Kenpo for about 15 years. Made it into my brown belts. Haven't done anything with it for over 20 years but it's amazing how some things can come right back. Actually met Ed Parker before he died. Really nice guy.
That right there had to be an exceptional experience.. I studied at Garrett's Kenpo long enough to get myself in trouble on the street. Some of the training stuck, though.
I started in Texas at around 6. Studied under Steve Snelson for 6 years and I met Mr. Parker just before my 11th birthday. He was a trip to watch and man was he strong. Makes me want to get back into it. Best shape of my life. Tried Tae Kwan Do and everyone seems to be a belt mill and in it just for the money...whose ever heard of a camo belt?!?!?!
