I think if I were to have a spoken "Code Phrase" to authenticate a Monkey.... I would just ask the Unknown Person, to NAME FIVE of the Founders, and give them 45 seconds to do it in. That would be sufficient to, at least, start a conversation. If they can't, at least, do that, they haven't been on long enough to be a "Trusted Monkey"..... and if Melbo and Ghrit aren't well enough know to the folks that frequent the forums, then Well...... there you go..... .... YMMV....

Ummmm.....right off top my head, I can only think 3, Ghrit, Melbo, Tracy. Would Site Supporters do as well? Though I might be guessing on at least one those.

    My signature is fairly singular,

though I guess anyone with a half decent dictionary and thesaurus could have a stab at forging it, lol ; )

Authentication codes would probably be useful...and they wouldn't be too difficult to construct.

Interesting read... many things have changed, the science of intercept, web crawling and cyber spying.... what are we doing to move forward with technology as it is. There is not much secure at this time due to malware, various government units and everything else out there.

Or If both were MonkeyNet Members, all one would have to do is send a simple ONEPAD Message using one of the Operational PADs, and that would authenticate them 100%.....

This is interesting thread. One ive used over the yrs , is the way we used to do it when i was a club member ( mc) we looked @ the way people carried themselves & wether or not we seen the ink ( depending on weather) was look for vest pins in certain location.we could tell a rival club from one of our brother from outa state/support club.. Since most of the clubs dont fly patches out of area or even in public anymore due to harassment from leo.. Its only good ftf tho.

Interesting topic. I see this thread has been going on for seven years or so. Might be time to push it on through... Before we see the whites of their eyes. Times seem to be getting scarier then at any time in my fairly long life. I just feel something bad, is lurking around out there and its not too far off.

    SIGNAL COMPRESSION.
when i was in the navy we were still using oil lamp for signaling so someone came up with a simple compression code called Z and Q signals to save oil. they are simply 3 letter groups starting with Z or Q that can convey as much as a full paragraph of questions and answers that will cover any number of things and are international. the signal bridge used to have them in book form unclassified. they might be in pdf format now. it would keep transmissions way down.

Similar to what we use on MonkeyNet.... when using a PhrasePAD.... each Numbered Grid Square contains a Phrase, or Information, likely to be used in a Message. Then maybe a "2:8/ 5:3" could mean "Meet at Map Reference Bravo @ time reference Tango", which would be a PreDetermined location.... and Date/Time.... Only those with a duplicate PhrasePAD could decode the Message,.... UnCrackable in RealTime.... or even in Hundreds of Computing Years....

I like simple, easy and readily available. I am not only going to need to talk to Monkey's, but the guy down the street, the owner of my local grocery store, maybe the town mayor and his sister Claire, the truck drivers on the highway and the mailman. I want a way to communicate which requires no learning curve. The question now becomes, how secure?

So far, the best I have found are the iDen phones. Anybody can acquire them and we can stock up on many of these phones, spare batteries and parts. Range is limited, but with an antenna upgrade, it helps a little. I also have a cellular antenna for the truck. You can buy these Motorola iDen phones on Ebay relatively cheap (pictured below are the i355 and i560 flip) Security is pretty awesome, highest level for anything found on the civilian market, can't listen in and if you got a spectrum analyzer, can locate the signal.. not too likely. Most folks in my area can't even spell that.
