I've got a 40 meter bazooka antenna. This Sunday before 6 p.m. I'm going to try to set it up and make calls on ssb 7.1955. I'd appreciate some signal reports to see how well I hit the Midwest region. I'll be calling cq monkey with my call sign. If there is an issue getting on air, I'll give a heads up here.

Sorry that was supposed to be NVIS in the title but the S, Z and my big fat finger are too close together. Didn't catch it till I posted.

If we can nail down the Time Zone issue, or GMT, or UTC... I certainly will be listening, and try from Comms....

By the way, you can increase chances of a contact if we notify other hams, for example, on preparedham.com. @GhettoPass If you aren't a member there, BTPost, Tevin, or I can flag it there for you.

Antenna set, low swr. Definitely not ideal but I'm working with the yard and trees I've been blessed to have.

    nvis setup.
Top photo is from shield end of bazooka to center conducted end. Center tied to 7.5' branch. Hot end is supported by shovel, deck supports braided end. Would of liked Inverted V with apex at 12' and ends running North and South at 6'.

Missed the QSY (computer is nowhere near the rig.) I heard the call for monkey at 1900 local, strength 0, perfectly clear when I could hear you between the big stations that covered up just about everything for over half an hour; they were on 7.195. I believe there were some responses to your call, but could not get anything out of it. With the weak reception, I didn't think it worth asking for a short interruption to their QSO, not much chance you could hear me, either. For distance estimates, I'm in grid FN21.

Nothing here, at all... To early for 40 to be open, this time of year....

The folks on 7195 were rather wide....nothing heard on 7196, even with a narrow passband. Perhaps another time or band?

    BTW, EM50.

I only had a Kansas station reply to CQ. I couldn't get his callsign as he was buried in the noise. He was able to hear me, my call, and QTH. His signal was S5-S8 in a lot of noise. Maybe another time and hopefully a little earlier in the day. Thanks for trying!
