Anyone else EDC a flashlight? Always a good idea to have one on you. My regular EDC is my AAA Fenix titanium light. Great light. It now lives on my keychain. I have an Eagletac D25Cvn Ti. It is modded and blazes out 1200-1500 lumens in turbo mode running RCR123. Less than that on CR123 batteries. My EDC survival kit has my alox farmer SAK, a fire starter, and the Fenix light. Since I picked up an Eagletac D25A Ti, it moved the Fenix to the keychain. My intent was to have something that can be blazingly bright, yet have very long run time. Running Eneloops AA, I get 1.3 hours at 200 lumens to 150+ hours on moon lite mode. Both can be life savers, depending on the situation. On steroids with 14500 batteries, it goes up to 900 lumens. That is unreal with one AA battery. Here are some indoor beam shots from about ten feet. Control Eneloop AA, moon lite, medium, high, turbo 14500, moon lite, medium, high, turbo The light Next up, outdoor shots.
Outside beam shots. Distance about 40 feet. Control Eneloop AA, moon lite, medium, high, turbo 14500, moon lite, medium, high, turbo
A realistic urban look. About 20 feet to the wall above the stairs. Control Eneloop AA, moon lite, medium, high, turbo 14500, moon lite, medium, high, turbo All I can say is the moon lite mode is totally usable and the high and turbo are very bright at close range. Anything inside of 50 feet is lit up nicely.
A few beam shots from camp. Found a quiet and dark path. Distance about 40 feet. Moon lite, medium, high and turbo For comparison, Fenix PD35vn Sorry about the lousy quality. Operating the flashlights with one hand and the phone camera with the other. Much brighter to the eye than pictured.
This is my new work light/EDC. THE SLYDE. It has a strong magnetic , removable base cap, and will mount to any ferris surface while working. Puts out plenty of light. Runs on 4 AAA with A 4 hour run time. It rides in the ruler pocket of my carpenter pants right now, in fact. Seems to be very durable. $35.00 at Batteries Plus.
Almost forgot this one. Rides on my keys and is quite bright for a one AAA battery, three LED light. Just used it to find the right keys in the dark.
