It's that time again. With more family activities going on over the course of the year, our at least once a month camping trips has dwindled to 3-4 a year. This is our second 2015 camp. Our home away from home. @Ganado mentioned dinner with Hanzo in her #Bug post. So here is dinner. Kalua pig on taro rolls with hoisin sauce was so good, I had two large servings. None of you guys came to eat... Dessert was pineapple Oh, Slammi likes coconuts. Especially at camp. Kids were running around playing together. When they didn't, the did other activities, like practice gymnastics. Or practice hula (I was too far to maybe get a good shot) Camping means camp fires With a nice base of embers (it was hot taking this one) Tested my Eagletac D25A outside (running 14500) Moon lite, medium, high and turbo. Tree is about 70 feet away. Nice floody beam. Fenix PD35vn at the same tree. A tighter beam. Low, low medium, medium, high and turbo Aimed at the trees at around 200-300 feet. Eagletac then Fenix Another camp fire shot. Don't think you can see the girls watching the fire. And finally, some camp humor.
Our littlest camper Monkey mommy role reversal Breakfast Browning some pork with garlic and ginger for the soup while some pork is slow roasting Added some thick cut pork belly to smoke on the rack. And you have camping multitasking. Bacon garnish Tried to show off the smoke ring, but didn't have my glasses on. It looked focused. [emoji33] Monkey taste testing faster than I can cut Lunch was pork and turnip soup with bean threads. Garnished with roast pork and smoked pork belly.
Food prep all morning and into the afternoon, got me tired. So I rigged up my hammock. Blurry eyed view from the hammock. But monkey see... Somehow, I am not in my hammock anymore...
I have a hammock like that in each vehicle. Posted a pic a while ago while eating lunch in it. surprisingly comfortable for such a light bit of cloth.
So monkey runs over to me. No, she is not turning my hammock back over to me. She wants me to rig up shade. How rude. The auscam hoochie makes an expedient bushcraft shelter.
Nighttime fun I normally don't mind bathing in cold water. It is always brisk and feels great after. But when you are wet and it cools in the evening AND it is windy with cold winds.... Nippy!
We had a tent visitor tonight. Brown recluse #spider? Was pretty big. And glad it was outside!! The mesh made picture taking a challenge.
Good morning and Happy Fathers Day from camp. I face the tent to catch the morning sun. Sunrise Monkey and I got up at first light around 5ish. Gave us time to clean up and restart the cooking fire. And watch a little camp TV. Got a really nice bed of coals for breakfast cooking.
Hobo breakfast sandwich with a view. It was grilled over the bed of coals from our cooking fire. Breakfast, part 2 My breakfast companion
