Massive Taurus Safety Settlement Could Include 100,000 Pistols - Bearing Arms - Handguns, recall, Taurus
Hmmmm I wonder how you find out if you're included in the settlement..... Looks like the attorney's are the only ones to really make out on this though! $100 - $200 for your pistol, or send it to Taurus for repairs......
The settlement agreement covers nine Taurus models, including the PT-111 Millennium; PT-132 Millennium; PT-138 Millennium; PT-140 Millennium; PT-145 Millennium; PT-745 Millennium; PT-609; PT-640 and PT-24/7, Taurus says.
Respectfully disagree. I know several folks with Taurus pistols with no problems. While they are not my first choice, after firing many of them and performing several trigger jobs on Taurus revolvers for friends, relatives my opinion is that they are a quality product. Not the best, but a quality product at an affordable price. YMMV
I guess I like my friends better than you do. I've been dealing with them for a couple of decades and the older stuff (beretta days) is better. I had one of their J frame knock offs that I liked quite a bit. But then, I didn't put even a hundred rounds through it. . . Then there was the student shooting an 85 with the barrel unscrewing as I watched. And the 85 with the sheared off hammer pivot. No problem, lifetime warranty. We sent it in 8 years ago, Never did get that back... And the guy who called me for parts, when I got his story out, he'd carried it for a year without shooting (shame on him) and when he finally made it to the range, it wouldn't work. (Millienium) This settlement is just one more (very large) data point. Sure, plenty of them work fine. But with so many choices out there, why chance it?
