New normal. Micro$oft knows better than the user what they need.

So how does one disable telemetry?

Fdisk and install Unbuntu or some other flavor of Linux.

For Home and Pro there is no disabling the telemetry, you MUST send back at least the "basic" amount (info in another thread). I don't know why I'm waiting on pulling the trigger with at least a dual-boot for the main PC...I just am. Family isn't overly fond of change.

So my "free" upgrade to 10 from 7 home won't be all that free. Enterprise is the ver that allows telemetry suppression?

From everything I have been able to find up to this point. There may or may not be a "hack" via either registry or file deletion. I will report back as I dig further.

    ***ETA***

A quick search found this which should disable telemetry collection and reporting.

    ***ETA...this time with a link***

    Microsoftz proprietary source code woes.
Currently running Linux Mint 17 which burned nicely to a mini 1.4GB dvd disc and installed flawlessly on my solid state drive, separately from the evil install, which is on its own drive. I accessed the boot loader by changing the boot order of the HD's from bios setup, and the LILO (linux) install also recognizes my evil Win install, so at every reboot I can choose which flavor I wish.

    Latest Linux Mint 17.2 "Rafaela"

I do that on both my laptop and desktop (dual boot with Mint 17). I took a chance and went ahead with the Win 10 install on my laptop.
I find the new browser (Edge) a pain and installed Firefox as a workaround. I backed up the image before I did the switchover and am considering seriously going back to Win 7.
There's supposedly a way, and I ran across it, to go back to Win 7 within 30 days. But I can't seem to find it again and it's been less than 30 days. Kind of disappointed with Win 10, besides all of the spying that's being pointed out here.
Didn't know there was a Mint 17.2 version out.
Some things I have to use Windows for, but mostly use Mint, especially since LibreOffice can save in a number of formats including .doc and .docx.

    Thanks DL.
I found it and went back to Win 7. Haven't done Win 10 on any other computers yet.
I experienced lockups lasting several minutes. Edge sucks as a browser. They really push MSN and Bing.
    I hate Bing.
Then you guys bring up the collection and reporting angle which can't seem to be stopped.
Some claim it's awesome. I think not so much.
