I shake and shudder all over the place still.
I do 1:30 standard and 45 seconds each side and that seems to be enough. Occasionally I'll extend the frontals to 2 minutes and of course, sometimes I get all over-achiever on myself and perform the full Heavy Lifting routine twice a day but usually keep it to 2x a week.

Planks blow. They weren't so bad at first because my boobs hit the ground and provided some cheater support. Sadly they were the first thing to waste away and now I'm stuck with naught but air betwixt me and the ground.

As bad as planks are though, they still beat burpees.

It has been a while since I have been on the Monkey. It is good to see this thread. There seems to be an abundance of folks out there who think they are able to carry a full load-out in a stressful, fast paced situation while being out of shape. Having the coolest gear and the fanciest SHTF rifle is great, but will do a person even better if they are capable of maneuvering and firing without having sudden health issues.

For my family, we cut the gluten meals, junk food, high fructose corn syrup and beer; keep our portions to what we need without gorging; cut cokes of various varieties; began a regular exercise regimen and keep at it. Just getting out and walking helps, but having an elliptical and an exercise ball works even better.

A very highly motivated blog post it is indeed! I really enjoyed studying the post. The 90 day journey to health pretty much excited me. I'm also been planning to reduce my belly fat and I think now it's time.

    @melbo,

I am new here. I returned from overseas just about 1 year ago after being gone - well - most my adult life. I have put on about 40 pounds since I return which seems to not want to come off. Putting on weight going to a new country is okay and normal but it normally comes off after you have tried and tired of all the new things. And, let's face it, you go into a grocer store in America and we have an Ice Cream row that is a block long! That is serious temptation. You started this post in August 2013. I would like to know how you are doing with it now that it has been over 2 years? It does make a lot of sense... and I am considering it but it does go against much conventional wisdom so...so how you doing?
    Regards,
    Rick

Still going strong Rick. I'm always within 2-4 lbs of my typical weight and feel great. It's not been very interesting for me to post stuff since it's just become a way of life. My wife cooks awesome primal meals and i just sit back and enjoy. I wish I would have discovered this when I was 20

And, have you obtained any medical tests to go along and prove your theory? I don't know like your cholesterol count?

I think you really might be on to something here...it actually makes since but the fat content of the diet gives me pause as it has become normal when one passes 50 to plan on going in to the hospital to put stents into one or more of your arteries due to it being clogged, or worse, a bypass.

I believe that saturated fat does not clog your arteries. Arterial plaque is the body's 'patching mechanism' to deal with damage to arterial walls due to oxidizing agents (like vegetable oils) and cortisol release after an insulin rush.
You really should pick up the book and give it a read before you try anything: The Primal Blueprint - Book | Primal Blueprint

Blaming cholesterol for cardiovascular issues is like blaming the firemen for the fire.

errrr...no. I did do my own diet as an experiment and it worked pretty good. I lost 15 pounds and have managed to keep it off. I do need to lose some more. My diet? I ate nothing but Borsht for a month or close to it. No hunger, no loss of energy...but did get tired of it. :):) Wow! minus 40 pounds...congrats! Wife is going for a month out of the country. I get to stay at home and feed cats and water garden but I intend to use that time to good advantage and see if I can get weight down more...also, to take my HAM exams, a Defensive Handgun course, build a computer...

This is more like a sales pitch or one of those many commercials on late at night.
Lots of statements that may be correct or incorrect.
Look at people who eat legumes as a major part of their diet, and pure vegetarians, for atleast 5000 years, vedic and /or ayurvedic diet, based on your dosha, or type.
These people lived long healthy lives, without modern medicines.
    Strength does not mean health.
If you study our digestive system, we have a system like our family members, non-human primates.
Gorillas, very strong, healthy, until someone poaches one. They rarely eat meat.
Fruit, roots, veggies, some bugs maybe, that s it.
Our teeth even indicate what we should eat.
In my opinion, this is just another way for someone to sell there book!
This is a forum for sharing, not, I will share to a point, but you really need to buy my book?
    Really?

Sorry to hear you see it that way, but it is your opinion and that is respected. We here at the Monkey, share a variety of topics and this just happens to be one of them. We give a rat's behind about selling anything nor promoting products, that is not what the Monkey is about!!! We intend on being the best survival information archive on the web.... and physical fitness is an important aspect of survival. This thread is just one more aspect of that knowledge posted within the forum. ;)

Many of us have adopted the principles of Primal, even without "buying the book".... and have had great success. I do not know one person that adopted the Primal lifestyle, and did not see at least some positive effects. I for one lost 30 lbs just adopting the better eating principles.... several Monkey's have had even much better success with everything from weight loss, physical conditioning and improvement to their various medical issues & allergies. Anyways, thanks for taking a look, even if it does not appeal to you. We are here to share!!

It was from this site the the stories of monkeys living this lifestyle and working well for them

I started this lifestyle on 1/4/2016 and lost 40lbs by 5/21//2016 and was NEVER on a diet. I just ate the correct foods and dumped alcohol and moved.

I have a thread her detailing my journey it you care to review it

Primal Blueprint/Paleo lifestyle works and has a sound foundation in not only food consumption but for me reducing inflammation which is allowing my psoriasis which was getting out of hand to subside.

One of the most motivational threads I have ever read.

I am 53 and holding, 5 years ago was way better shape then now.
Still within my body weight about 10 lbs, Cholesterol is good BP is low most always.
But strength wise I let some drop, got lazy was doing more low end stuff and notice that it does affect me at times.
I eat well most times, better then most I guess but always know I could do better. My mom was a 60's health nut,
not a liberal health not just a health nut. We seldom had sugar or pop, or red meat. Fish and chicken and breakfast was oatmeal , wheat germ and other stuff I cant pronounce. Which set me up to have a pretty healthy life. One thing the last 5 years is allergies.
In the last five years I have become allergic to about 5 things including some stupid pollen that the last few weeks has been pretty bad eyes red all the time but it will pass soon it seems to. I can't help but wonder my slow down on health didn't affect the immune system in some way. I do not get colds, flues or sick usually so thinking somewhere I changed my body makeup. I think, I mean I know I need to get back where I was as the longer I wait the longer that ladder gets.

@monkeyananda the site is about each of us sharing our experience and what works for you.

I don't consider myself vegan and I don't eat alot of meat or fish. Not because I don't like it but because my body does better on fresh vegetables (with bacon when I can make it work in the dish)

Please start a thread and share your experience with eating vegetarian. ..

I was looking at preps for food awhile back and decided I needed to figure out how to use some things so I posted this thread.

Using Stored Grain, Nuts, Seeds to Optimize Health - Sprouting | Survival Monkey Forums

Most people don't realize how inexpensive sprouting is and how much bang you get for you buck spent.

Hope you post a thread or two on vegan or vegetarian eating. Everyone can benefit from more veggies and more creative ways to eat them
