could it be a G-lock with optional side mounted holographic sights.... you know the one that you can push as you fire to make the bullet go faster?

I've read that only 15% of rounds fired by LEO's actually hit the intended target during live fire incidents, don't know if it's true or not, but have heard several times news reports of 100+ rounds being fired by same and the bad guy being hit three times. 15% of 3 is .45, your dead. 15% of 15 is 2.25. Since the bad guy is not likely playing by the 3 round rule, I have a full clip and a spare or two. And even if your shooting 100%, what if there are four of them?

Could the remark have been made in terms of protection while you evacuate vs. a stand your ground situation? I think most of the responses seem to be tailored towards this is my spot and I will blast away until the threat is taken care of. Whereas if you want to remove yourself from the threat, your first shot is going to cause them to pause (correct?) so that give you time to move back. It is an interesting statement and I would like to question the trainer in-depth on his 3 bullet theory.

I'm more of an Alice's size reduction potion kind of guy....makes for a much smaller, and more difficult target to hit...and I can mouse hole my way out of danger!

Cops in general are notoriously bad shots...throw in a little stress and adrenaline and they get even worse. Hard as hell to train too...especially the men. Just can't ever allow the perception that they don't know it all already.

I think with most people are the same. At the range the kids can hit the targets- bulls eye but when we put up a numbered target and we call out numbers, you can see the dip in the accuracy. I think that is a norm.

Oh, I don't know about that....these cops shot just about everything in sight.

Details emerge in LAPD's mistaken shooting of newspaper carriers - latimes

(The real question, is why did they feel threatened by everything in sight?:cautious::rolleyes:)

I have only three things to say about it: Train, train, and train. Enough training stabilizes the auto pilot when fractions of seconds can make the difference between life and death.

Freakin sad, ain't it? They seem to be operating under the notion that their top priority is to go home alive. The job used to be centered around ensuring that EVERYBODY got to go home alive...putting your own life at risk sometimes to make that happen.

There was an incident in Cleveland where some drugged out citizen actually shot a cop, but the rounds didn't penetrate his vest. The cop who was shot then proceeded to try to talk the guy into surrendering "we'll try to get you some help"...rather than just shooting him. Unfortunately, the guy wasn't having any of that and ended up getting shot anyway by other cops at the scene, but the point is that the cop went the extra mile, even after being shot, to try to save the the guy's life. That's the kind of cop my dad and most of his partners were...and that's the kind of cop I always tried to be, and that's the kind of cops I encouraged when I was a commissioner.

It's more like Train, tRain, traIN - incorporate as many variables as possible into your training. Being able to draw and fire with your strong hand isn't much help when your strong hand is broken, for example. Incorporate Murphy into your training...cuz Murphy will darn sure show up when it's real. ;)

Training is emphatically required. Gotta ask, tho', how does one train to determine the difference between a half drunk (or otherwise) slowing and speeding up vehicle and one delivering the papers? This looks, to me, like a case of overly nervous cops. Looks, to me, like they need more stressful training. Those guys were not under any sort of mental control, just reacting to something beyond their ability to handle.

In a high stress situation one will always fall back to the lowest level of their training.....

Amazing how many Special Ops people I have run into AFTER getting out of the military. Spent nine years in the US Army Infantry and I have experience working with the real deal. But since I got out I've met many more than while serving. Amazing. What are the odds? Anybody know where I can buy three round Glock magazines?

Local sportsman's club banned the local PD from using the range because they keep shooting holes in the roof.
