What do you do with unwelcome visitors that come onto your property? You dispose of them.

No a big bad guy by any means. Caught a rat about four times that size. The big one was about 8-10 inches long, not including the tail. This guy was about five inches long, but no where near as scary as the big white one.

Once I saw a water rat go into a hole at the edge of a river. After I caught a rubbish fish, I dangled it by the hole. After the rat swiped at it, the claw marks were at least 3/4 inch apart and the fish was shredded.

Walk that park at night with one of your flashlights and shine it in the trees.... bet they are full of them ;)
How did you get the little critter?

Skinny little guy, how do you expect to live of them if you don't feed them.

Slept out on the beach south of Lahaina one night (and this was 40 years ago) and the trees were full of them.....

It was murdered and the crime scene was staged. Authorities are still investigating... Could have used the ninja neko tag team!

Well I thought that was you!

I camped on the Maui Hilton Beach a bit longer ago than that.

The Hilton was just built and as I walked across that bright red carpet, on my way to the breakfast buffet, I left a trail of red foot prints surrounded by white sand.

LOL @Dunerunner we used to go to Magic Island right next to Ala Moana Beach Park across from the Ala Moana Center and party and fish at night ...

the break water was full of rats running in between the boulders... then we happened to shine the lights in the big shade trees... needless to say... we stopped going there at night.... trees were crawling with big huge sewer rats!

all the crumbs and food left on the park grass and sand from the beach and picnic goers.... made you wonder if you felt a drizzle... if that was rain or something else falling on you .... Yuck...

I used to run at night along the Ala Wai and I don't know whether it was the giant cockroaches, the rats or occasional mongoose that freaked me out more...:ROFLMAO:

Don't forget, big centipedes can cross your path too. Was walking the dog at night, years ago. A freaking fast 8" centipede crossed in front of us. Made the dog yelp and jump back. He knew better than to mess with it.

After I watched the centipede disappear into the grass, I laughed at the dog. But kept an eye out. Would have been horrible for all parties if dog decided to dump on centipede then get bit.

Looks like the one that scared the dog. Don't let the video fool you. They can be very fast when they want to.

Of the same ilk but more unwelcome and it seems they are immune to normal vermin clearance procedures.

Soooo the result on not having snakes on your island means lots of rats...

They brought in the mongoose to try to control the rat population. Great idea, except for one little detail. Mongoose hunt during the day. Rats are nocturnal.

Had another great lunch with @Bear. They all are. You guys should all fly over just to have lunch and conversation with him. You will be glad you did.

Talked about our rats, and he said he had the perfect trap for them. So I asked him to send me a link so I can scope em out and buy some. Well, for those who know our very own Bear, he is a great guy. And generous to a fault. Instead, he says, just come over to my house and I'll give you some. Sweet!

Well, here they are baited and tethered.

And anchored and set in what I would consider logical places for a rat to cross.
