As I mentioned in my hiking post, we tried out these mosquito bracelets and they worked great. Neither the little monkey nor I got bitten. And it is all natural.

It does't smell bad, but the smell is strong. Supposed to last 250 hours and is reusable. We use it and put it back in the zip lock package. As we use it, I can give a better idea of how long it lasts. But I find it best around the ankle. I had it around my wrist and every time I raised the camera toward my face, the smell was really strong. So after a couple of times, I switched it to the ankle. Works great so far.

    We bought ours from Amazon.

At my BOL in the spring we end up with no-see-ums that work their way into your boots and bite shins, ankles, tops of toes, leaving a nasty welt that itches like crazy for a week or more. The bites weep, then heal and leave scars.
Using a good 100% Deet repellent will keep them away. Deep Woods Off is effective if you use a lot, but it's only 30% Deet.
Gnats can be bad that time of year, too. Some years are worse than others.
I'll give these a try, maybe one around each shin just over the tops of the boots.

Thanks Hanzo. I'll look them up.
Update: Ordered a couple of different kinds. One type is the spiral plastic, the other type is a felt bracelet. See how they work out.

We apparently have mosquitos that are more persistent than the rest of you. We tried a couple kinds of those a year or so ago and they worked well...for the hand and arm.

Good luck. Let me know how they work for you. We like that they use natural ingredients.

Wonder if it would be possible to smuggle one onto Survivor?

    In a hatband. Sure.

The smell may be strong that close to your face.

    The question was:
Not "would it stink?" Just rewrap it and seal it, before sticking it in your hatband.
Transport it anywhere, use it around your ankle.

Paracord hatband under bandanna (buff) on outside, survival gear in band and pocket of Tilley copy. Paracord bracelets also fully packed on each ankle and and wrist. Paracord belt. Could probably have one braided into one of those. Though I understand they tend to take jewelry as well as watches and wallets. I havent watched the show in years.

I bought some bug bracelets about 5 years ago for the kids. They didn't work well at all. The kids were battling skeeto's & no-see 'ums. Maybe bug bands have improved over the years. The reviews on Amazon look promising. May try them again.

I would not put any of these products close to my face.

Good call. I was just telling @Bear today that when I had it around my wrist and I raised the camera toward my face, the smell, while not unpleasant, was really strong. So I switched it to my ankle. I think the combination of always moving and switching the band location kept me from getting bit.
