This interactive map is very interesting.
Interesting where .gov & .mil does not want you flying a drone and the temporary general flight restrictions are also interesting because some of the temporary restrictions have been in place for years.

    Don't Fly Drones Here

Thanks for posting this. The wife just told me she gotten me Phantom 3 for Xmas (no, she can't keep a secret), and I'm really looking forward to using it at our cabin to survey the fence line and scout around a bit. Should be fun!

*facepalm* what F-idiot drew this map, its every military reserve, airforce base and every 'National Monument' that was confiscated by Mr Clinton by executive order way back when. IDK how they can enforce a no fly zone over a wilderness/national monument. I can understand the airforce bases but empty desert .... really :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    Or, maybe, one-a deeze!

No doubt about it. The Feds are really getting bent about killer drones in the hands of the public. The guy that flew the pistol drone is already being "investigated".

Gosh/Golly/Gee Whiz/Oh, My! Now the law-abiding public will be able to assassinate anyone they chose and not even have to worry about making a getaway. And a drone can't be tortured into revealing the names of it's unindicted co-conspirators.

And the good news is that any drone that can carry a 10-lb machine gun can carry 10 lbs of explosives instead, and probably drop them with the precision of a smart bomb. And do it well within the recreational budget of the average whacked-out anti-American terrorist.

You can bet the black-ops boys already have these up and running. Pretty soon the military forces around the world will be deploying them in interactive swarms, and the days of finding safety in a foxhole will be well and truly over.

And, then, of course, the police will also start using them.

Check the regs. On your own property you should be able to fly anything (RC airplanes, kites, etc) as long as it stays below 500 ft.

UnRegulated Drones must stay below 400' AGL.... Going above that puts them in Flight AirSpace which Starts at 500' AGL.... Flying over your OWN land below 400' AGL should have NO Regulatory Issues, as of NOW, However this may change, once the FAA Working Group, publishes their Findings... Your Land Ownership does NOT include the AirSpace above it, especially above 500 ' AGL.

Apparently, all RC planes have to be registered with the FAA by next February.

    Thanks, irresponsible drone pilots.
    Thanks, misinformed public.
    Thanks, government.

@Neo-Nel is correct. You now have to register your drones. I had no clue this was coming. The first I heard about it was yesterday. The gov't certain has its hand in everything.

@PaxMentis that will be $5...... Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Registration

Oh great...I got my 14yr old grandson a drone for Christmas...and now they want him to register. I'll tell him about this, but being grandpa's boy, I am sure he'll blow it off. He'll register his drone about the time I register my guns. Heck, I may even go out and get one for me now...just so i can flip off the FAA and not register!

@chimo sounds like you are raising a patriot. (y)

Half a pound is not much, that encompasses a lot of drones. And to make it retroactive is huge. Those fines are steep and ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

My grandson and I will not ignorant of the law, ma'am...resistant, defiant and noncompliant, but not ignorant.
