Well after Christmas is all done and New Years has come by i will start on what i think is my ultimate build. And this is what i will use on it.

    1. Colt le6920
    2. Mission first tactical flip up iron sights
    3. Eotech exps3 with a g33 enhancer
    4. Mission first tactical minimalist stock
    5. Mission first tactical 30 round mags
    6. Timney skeletonized trigger
    7. Axts raptor charging handle
    8. Magpul angled fore grip 2
    9. Magpul moe grip

I know it will be a bit pricey but i have used or shot a ar with all of these items and i really like em. I think it will take me about 2-3 months to finish building this setup.

Eotech just lost a big lawsuit on some of their models. You might want to verify the one you like is not one of the models affected.

someone check me out on this, but I think the problem dealt with battery life and extreme cold weather. they used exaggerated claims on the cold extremes with no operation problems. I think this was the total gist of it. was on a specific models used by special forces.

this is the article I read at military.com US Optic Maker Settles Lawsuit Over Defective Rifle Sights | Military.com
    .
exps3 was one of the sights mentioned in the article
    .
EOTech represented to the Defense Department that its sights performed in temperatures ranging from -40 degrees to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, and in humid conditions, according to court documents.
    .
"Specifically, they learned that the sights experienced a condition referred to as 'thermal drift,' meaning that the sight's point of aim differed from its point of impact (or 'failed to hold zero') when subjected to hot or cold temperature," according to court documents.

"Beginning around 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the sights' aiming dot became significantly distorted, affecting the accuracy of the sight and worsening as the temperature approached -40 degrees. At sub-zero temperatures, the distortion of the aiming dot affected the accuracy of the sights by more than 20 inches for every 100 yards."

The lawsuit alleges that EOTech was contractually required to disclose any information concerning the reliability of the sights, but the company waited nearly a decade to disclose the defect.

I have extensively used Eotechs, Aimpoints and Acogs (I was the armorer and supply NCO) so we are talking about hundreds of each, all used in extreme conditions, from the frozen wastelands of Germany in the dead of winter to the sweltering heat of Iraq. Through it all, they all can fail, and many have. However, the Aimpoint sights had fewest problems, followed closely by the Acogs. The Eotech sights (at the time this was 2009) ended up all being coded out. My opinion: don't use them. I personally favor the Aimpoint red dot (M68 sytle) for co-witness and ease of use with night vision, but your mileage may vary. The Acog is excellent for those who do not use night vision, but also do not care about co-witness solutions either. The only reason the Acog sights ever got trashed was because of the guys smashing them getting in and out of vehicles quickly, and the only part that ever broke was the illuminator. I have seen Aimpoints dented and with deep abrasions, been tossed around and thrown like a stone with no problems and still worked. I freaking love their sights.

    m68.

You *could* search online, say Ebay and find soldiers who had bought their own and are now selling them cheap. I picked up two that way over the years for about $150 each. Buyer beware, used isn't always good, especially on Ebay, but if you know what you're looking for, it could be very rewarding, too.

Good luck with whichever sight system you are going with. :)

I agree on the Aimpoint co-witness. It give you an extra confidence that you will hit what you are aiming at having two aiming options that are pointing at the same place.

i just sent my EoTech SOCOM 553 back and will probably pick up another Aimpoint.

This is what i am getting as my base and building off of this. It is a colt le6920-oem2. Except it doesn't have the front sight on it, just a small gas block.
