I Know him as one of 5or6 the "peak oil gurus giving warnings of A major collapse triggered by the inability of world oil production to meet demands. I even posted this on the motorcycle board I'm on ( they're starting to think i've gone completely over the edge), but I feel I wouldn't be doing my neighborly duty to at least expose 'em to this stuff. I don't have a grasp of all the facts and dates, but "It does seem like a perfect storm of events is fast upon us (read "DOOM DOOM,DOOM"!). Not strictly a conspiracy, but just the inevitable convergence of the problems created by our infinite growth economy and lifestyle. Again I haven't checked his facts but his take on things follows logic. It's 1:58 the last 1/2 hour presents some "rules to survive. Set aside 2hours, take an anti-depressant, crack a beer; Hell turn on ther tv and watch it with one eye and one ear...but give it a whirl...Starts out with 9/11 conspiracy stuff, weaves back in and out of peak oil, and economics. IMHO I'm of the mind that it will happen , but following the curve, we will have years of decreasing production, rolling brownouts and blackouts,strategic supply will be tapped, there'll be calls for drilling on every piece of ground not currently occupied by a caribou, increasing prices; And like the frog in the increasingly- warm pot there won't be much screaming or hopping about...It'll be a while before we have actual loss of order and/or govt...

Wow!! I will have to do some checking on that. News to me. I just recieved his book "Crossing the Rubicon" . The jacket bio says he was an LAPD narcotics officer when he claims he came across evidence of CIA involvement in drug traffiking and for refusing to cover it up was dismissed from the force. He is the most outspoken of the Peak Oil gurus and the only one I have seen who links the geo-politics of oil to 9/11 and the Iraq war. If powerful people wanted to silence anyone, it would be him. I will definitely be putting on my tin foil beanie and following this!
