Humble school teacher here w/ an off the grid place looking for help.

#1) Can't wait to discuss battery banks and fuel storage (that I have)
#2) I do have a 175 acre deer ranch / trophy deer outfitter place that is my "bug out" place. As said above, I'm just a school teacher so I can't do everything myself. I'm putting in a nuclear fallout / biologic proof underground shelter and need a family of 4 to 8 to help.

My place is in Kentucky fyi.

And the risk of sharing my location is a risk I'm willing to take. First off, lazy people won't take the time to write down addresses and actually follow up on finding "real preppers" locations. Anyone putting forth that effort would likely be a prepper themselves and would be an ally, not an enemy. Let's face it, you come to a deer ranch with 20+ ambush locations to kill deer hidden, it's probably not the best of places to "takeover" and consider a soft target.

Another point is that my place underground won't be recognizable like the above ground cabins tucked back in the woods. When I've asked for help in the past, you always get people concerned about exposing locations. I know an economic collapse will happen and everyone will lose all their money in the stock market (100% chance), but I give an accidental nuclear War happening maybe 5% chance within 50 years, nuclear bomb going off in the US 50% (not a big deal...nuclear is easy to survive and will only impact a super small area of a state...but the economic ramification will be significant). Biologic outbreak within 50 years, probably 100%.

    Welcome winston.

Just as an aside, sounds like you have a nice setup with interesting plans for the future but I doubt if you will find too many of our members jumping at the opportunity without a lot more time to get to know you. A year or so down the line you might find a member or two who will be open to discussion. As a group, we're all pretty cautious of strangers offering opportunities. Please don't take this as an insult, just a reality.

With that said, I know we will all look forward to getting to know you and hearing more about the progress of your project.

@winston , welcome to the Monkey tree!

I'm in NC, therefore KY would be a bit far for me (but not unheard of) -- I would like to buy a good amount of land at some point.

If you want to post the basics of your battery banks (I'm assuming this is for a solar system) some people will gladly come along and comment. If you DON'T have a system but are looking to put one in -- state what you think your requirements are.
Such as: total wattage, largest appliance/power user (for maximum draw to your system), hours of sun, possible budget. As you can imagine, you can "build up" your battery banks and solar system but it needs to be done in an intelligent way. I have experience with DC and some with solar -- but there are many more here than myself that have more experience with solar than I do.

    Again, welcome!!

I sell deer hunts and try to make a little money on the side. I never had kids is probably the big factor.

Here is my site where I sell deer hunts and my complete proposal for help from a larger family:

Winnie, you are welcome here to learn what monkeys know, and teach what they do not. Also, discussing your projects is welcome. You will do VERY well to invite others to contact you by conversation for details rather than solicit them on open forum, just don't be too surprised at a lack of response pending establishing your credibility. We take OPSEC very seriously.

Yes. Good point. As a newbie entering the forum, you don't know if you're typing to 100's or 15. I take Gretzkey's approach... 100% of the shots you don't take you don't score.

I agree. Generally speaking, rich people won't lose money. The rich sees an economic collapse as lots of potential to make money. Like oil prices being $38 a barrel. I have to believe the "rich" suckered all the doctors and lawyers to buy in at $100 a barrel and the "real rich" stole boatloads of their money.

But thieves and predators that would come after middle class people like me are lazy (those no profit stealing from me...when they can just sit and home and collect a welfare check). I'd just consider them "target practice" during any disruption in society. My area is tight knit prior military who have 20 to 600 acres each. No motorized vehicles can reach my place with a narrow bridge and a natural "moat" around my entire property. You'd just "survive" at my place...we're not talking super nice places that what you probably monitor and keep out the bad guys who can make money from the thefts. I don't lock anything where I'm at. I want people to just steal what they want, but don't break a door or window.

Now,the last person who came on the property to steal a bright orange chainsaw case sitting by the side of the road (of course a chainsaw was in there) got several photos of him posted on the road on a big billboard for 6 months saying "Thief caught on tape". I HATE TERRORISTS and wish we could tape $100 bills in the front lawn of our homes!..and protect our property at all costs. These idiots that blow themselves up and kill people...you can't stop that stuff...but we can certainly stop THIEVES by treating them the same as suicide bombers.

It's not the very rich who profit, though it helps. It's more like professional poker. Those who make money are those who know when to jump and which way to jump, what trends are real, and which are going nowhere. You have to have enough to buy in to play, but it's not about "suckering" (in fact, that would cost you your license, and send you to the gray bar hotel.) It's more like betting on which way the market will go, and placing your bets accordingly.
Every time money shifts, it has fees. Every time someone loses, someone wins. The house collects the fees, and depending on which side you bet on, and how much determines your winnings.
I don't have enough to buy in to play, but anyone can, not just the rich.
"Investing" is in simple terms a bet, a large investment helps swing the odds in your favor, but it is still just a bet, and you can lose everything.

Welcome, but never count someone as an ally just because they are also a prepper... Just FYI. OPSEC is always important and any help you enlist to help you build your shelter should be thoroughly vetted. This doesn't mean they won't blab to someone else that they helped build your shelter and describe to them exactly where it is and what its weaknesses are.

It's times like these that I wish I were in the US. It would be great to help you with your project. That's why, if I ever return to the US to live full time, I would be off-grid, but would prefer to be among other like minded folks to kinda help each other out with projects. The Amish work together that way and it seems to work for them. After all, how many years have they been off-grid together? :)

Oh, I'm one of those people that doesn't care if people know where I live. I'm in Battambang, Cambodia, actually, if anyone does care. :p Trouble is, no one cares about SE Asia, in almost any capacity. And, considering the things I have openly stated about our current seated President, if they haven't come to visit me with their black helicopters by now, they never will. :D

I wish you well on your project. I may visit the US again next winter. If I do, and you are still working on this, or a similar project, maybe I can help? (I returned for a visit last winter for over 3 months and had an enjoyable time.)

Underground bunkers need air. As you mentioned a chainsaw; my guess is you still have one and probably a can of gas.

Always consider what the other guy can do also.

Welcome, Best leave the oilfield out of the equation considering your most likely using some of our products
Like plastic, Fuel, Light's...Unless your using solar or a horse to power that house and that 'Puter ? Not throwing in a feeder or two or transportation to the Ol' deer stands' for your side income.
The rich that you refer to are overseas ducking our law's, Like oil traders out of London?
I have a problem with even booking a hunt in Ol Ke-Tuc-Ky considering it's now rampant with shysters that take my hard earned oil dollars and deliver basically. Nothing as promised? Pray you are not that guy?

That is good advice. Oh...I've had plenty of people offering to help with their "skills" and "guns". I just need cash. Is it discrimination because I'd never talk with w/ a 40 year old man about a partnership? I wouldn't even talk to a man unless he was 80 just looking to help out his grandkids. Just older women to be honest w/ you. I would never trust a man who can walk...he can simply go do this himself if he's healthy and has 25k to throw in my direction. If he has 25k then he can go borrow 100k and get a good start.

So yes, a man could put his 60 yr. old wife or grandmother up to talking to me on the phone and visiting my place. I sell so many deer hunts at my property, it's just not a big deal for people to know I have a few cabins in the woods. Now the fallout shelter is an entirely different situation...nobody would know where that is at unless their check cleared. And even then, if I allow for 4 spots, that means they will likely bring 8..and you have to work with them. That's an entirely different conversation if they bring 12 and we only have such much air filtration. I'll already have 20 of my people that know the rules. As long as breathing air isn't an issue, it's just 1 big team in my eyes...but they better bring some gold to hand over! lol..I'll hand out guns and ammo to all.
