    Interesting read.

State Terrorism directed against the American People and Democracy Itself

    Global Editor’s Note

The Department of Defense now authorizes the domestic deployment of US troops in “the conduct of operations other than war” including law enforcement activities and the quelling of “civil disturbances”: “Federal military commanders have the authority, in extraordinary emergency circumstances where prior authorization by the President is impossible and duly constituted local authorities are unable to control the situation, to engage temporarily in activities that are necessary to quell large-scale, unexpected civil disturbances…

Seems it took the writer a while to notice...most of that was started 10 years ago...and is far more pervasive and aimed at "domestic terrorists"...meaning those who respect the constitution...now.

It is certainly of the last Consequence to a free Country that the Militia, which is its natural Strength, should be kept upon the most advantageous Footing. A standing Army, however necessary it may be at some times, is always dangerous to the Liberties of the People. The Militia is composed of free Citizens.

Soldiers are apt to consider themselves as a Body distinct from the rest of the Citizens. They have their Arms always in their hands. Their Rules and their Discipline is severe. They soon become attached to their officers and disposed to yield implicit Obedience to their Commands. Such a Power should be watched with a jealous Eye.

I have a good Opinion of the principal officers of our Army. I esteem them as Patriots as well as Soldiers. But if this War continues, as it may for years yet to come, we know not who may succeed them. Men who have been long subject to military Laws and inured to military Customs and Habits, may lose the Spirit and Feeling of Citizens.

And even Citizens, having been used to admire the Heroism which the Commanders of their own Army have displayed, and to look up to them as their Saviors may be prevailed upon to surrender to them those Rights for the protection of which against Invaders they had employed and paid them.

We have seen too much of this Disposition among some of our Countrymen. The Militia is composed of free Citizens. There is therefore no Danger of their making use of their Power to the destruction of their own Rights, or suffering others to invade them.

Samuel Adams, to James Warren, January 7 1776

Isn't it amazing that something written over 200 years ago describes our current problems so clearly?

I sincerely hope that all monkeys that are serious about their security and safety have at least the basic means to protect themselves, their families and their properties already in hand. If not, I would strongly urge you to obtain those means as quickly as possible.

I would also add that all Monkeys should check out the 3 percent forum if they haven't already.

My opinion on this is that if you're expecting someone else to protect your freedom, you don't have any.

It's because, as my father used to say, human nature does not change no matter how much time has passed. How true.

I am reminded of that joke where the guy is looking for a headache cure and is told to beat his head repeatedly against the wall just because it feels so much better when he stops. We all sit on our hands singing about the deliberate encroachment of totalitarianism to members of the choir and do nothing to broadcast it to the rest of the world. I am reminded that someone with a smoothbore and flash-pan actually pulled the trigger in Lexington against the most powerful military in the world, a freaking farmer....
We buy right into the propaganda about our military defending our freedoms, thank you for your service, if you can read it in English, the whole lot of PR hogwash to justify building the very dreadnaught that will plow us under. We the people, have the power to legislate the formation of a real Militia, one funded by our taxes and ran by real citizens with the sole intent of protecting our Liberty, yet we have not done that. We have just relied on sending our children off to die in the corporate military that defends the national interests of Kellog and other military industrial concerns. Yeah, this defends our freedom by giving jobs to those of us that fight, manufacture uniforms, plane, trains and boats, toothbrushes, concrete plants, trucks, guns, bombs, bullets, toilet paper, and just about anything else needed to move, feed, house an army, navy, airforce, and Department of Homeland Security...
And now this super force comprised of our own children we are so proud of, just might get turned against those of us that speak and act to actually defend liberty because liberty is contrary to a system that is profit driven and supported by the worker ants.

VERY well said. And those are the people that don't deserve any, too.
