I do NOT have to write my CongressCritters, on this issue...as Up here in Alaska, If they voted for ANY Gun Control Issue, they would be LYNCHED....

Added NOTE, here: We had a Senator, who caved to his DemonCrat Buddies, and was the deciding Vote on ObummerCare.... Early in his First, and ONLY Term.....We warned him, that his vote, would cost him, his Seat in his Next Election... He was warned that WE, his Constituents, would NOT Forget... He spent the next 5 years, trying to get us, to forget, HIs Vote... and sure enough, WE voted his A$$ out of Office.... A One Term Senator, Has-Been, who has now dropped out of the Political Scene, in Alaska.... You can make the same happen in your State....

While I agree with Idahoser they really don't care, you CAN make a difference. If enough letters, calls and what not (personal letters, the "mail a card" from the various gun groups are not really considered "real") it will make them worry about getting re-elected and that is always good. The way the politicos look it it, if you are concerned enough to call/write it adds up about like this: "mail a cards" are about "one" concerned person per every 100 cards, a phone call is about 100 concerned citizens per call, a hand written letter is about 1000 concerned persons per letter, which is the odds of someone actually doing it. 1,000 calls and 1000 letters really gets them worried!

Please remind your congress critter of your thoughts and the fact that if you voted for them and their actions are a a line in the sand for you, they need to get 2 votes to replace you. They lost your vote and if you vote against them, they have to get a second vote to negate your vote. When the first assault rifle bill was passed, we in NH had a Rep in congress named Dick Sweat. I wrote him a letter on the bill and got back the form letter about his gun rights stand and how he would do the right thing. He then caved in to the Democratic party and voted for the bill. He ran for reelection and lost, ran for the Senate and lost and then disappeared from the scene. It can be done and in many cases, the primaries, or contested elections, it doesn't take many votes to change the results, especially if you get "two" votes.

My rep. is a republican and he has a solid voting record on opposing gun laws. My senator does not she will be replaced.

@Kingfish is making an excellent point here and I am very surprised by the cynical responses ( well maybe not cynical but more like defeated) Kingfish's point (if this isn't your point please correct me) is that we have to exercise our rights and write our representatives. If we don't say anything then nothing changes. If we say something and nothing changes then I can stand before God on judgement day and say I did my part.

apathy and cynism about the system is what has let the liberals control this country. Independent thinking people generally feel like their input is useless but useless or not 'constitutional rights' if not exercised atrophy just like muscles.

THanks for the heads up @Kingfish

I remember back when the banks and auto manufacturers were going to get bailed out. We wrote, called, wrote and called some moe, reminding our congress scum that w e, the taxpayers, had no place in trying to save these "too big to fail" bloated institutions. Did absolutely no good. Ditto for bailing out fannie may and freddie mac. Several other incidents since then, including passisg Obamacare, went totally against the people's will, not to mention common sense. But if you follow the money, it's downright criminal how much our congress scum benefit from these laws being passed while we, the people, keep getting screwed again and again.

    Rant off.
