Excellent job. It fits right into the surroundings and is camouflaged quite well. How deep was it? One person shelter? Wondered that also.
Good job. If you lash together (or weave together) sticks and cover with brush, you can make a "hatch cover" that will keep it warmer and make it a little harder to spot...you certainly have the idea of camo though.
Looks very good.. As it attracts the eye, I'd remove the 2x4 to the upper right. Unless it's a deer stand. @Motomom34 Pictures are "2D" so slope is difficult; however, trees usually grow vertical.
It's big enough to fit a couple people, and yeah I mean it's not the best but I watched a video and then went out the next morning and worked on it, I built a little fence around it and I'm going to put up a firewall. It looks bigger than what it is, it's so big because of all the insulation It is a deer stand. I'll take it down though, iv got a new one up Well can't always be perfect It's on flat ground kind of a high spot sort of.
Wise decision as personally, I would not hunt close to my hide. I do not know if they are a problem in your area; however, coyotes are drawn to the smell of blood etc. Useless creatures I shoot on sight. Here at the house, I feed the deer. As they get to "know" you; they become more trusting of you. Some of them let me approach within 25'. That doesn't apply to our Pitts who view them as intruders on their turf. I've fenced the backyard to avoid problems. How is your roof when it rains?
Hats-off and a High Five for actually building that before you were in desperate need. Now you know what it takes, especially how much time and effort. Most people think, "Oh, I've been lost all day and I'm tired, and hungry, and cold, and scared, and it'll be dark in ten minutes. I'd better build a shelter." Next step: spend a cold rainy night in it to prove you have enough insulation. And so we learn. (I go now.)
