Anyone have and use a Silky Bigboy saw? I know they cut great. I am mostly interested in your thoughts on carrying it in the field. I have several Silky Gomboys. And Bahco Laplanders. When I am hiking, I usually throw a Bahco in the pack most of the time. Mainly because it is light. Sometimes, it will be a Gomboy. When I camp, I usually will use a Silky. Why the Bigboy? I am considering it because I think the Katanaboy is too big for most of my sawing needs. Was thinking of a Bigboy to pack when I am biking and when I know I have to clear stuff, like these fallen trees. Right now, the Gomboy 240 is the biggest folding saw I have. Anyway, appreciate your thoughts.
I love old have saws I have 4 24 in. 1 12 in. bow-saws and 2 2 person cross-cut saws I’m too old to use the big ones now but I still have my son b ring fallen limbs up to the house so i can cut for a while--great stress reliever ---every one out in the woods should carry some kind of folding saw you never know when you will need one
The scouts forbid the kids from using folding saws due to their failure rate. though I never had a problem personally . However I find a 40" bow saw blade easy to store and find a handle in the woods to fit to and make the best work of the tool far better than the short stroke blades on folding saws. About the only reason for carrying folding saw is for cutting bone dressing out a deer or bear.
