I mentioned I made this campout trip a little while ago and I've now published it on youtube. If anyone would like to see a very very useful shelter to survive in the winter this is it. As much as I admire what you are doing, one thing would be sweating during the trip out there in cold weather. I have read reports of it being really bad to sweat in extreme cold weather. Its really cool that you did this and showed some of the step, but to me the video seemed a little long. Again not trying to bust your chops, its really cool that you do this. I wish I had more time to do things like this. Keep up the good work.
It did not drip on me that night. It got fairly warm in it, as you saw on the thermometer. I imagine with multiple nights in it I may have had to deal with water drips. -Phorisc Live The Adventure
I completely hear you So during winter, its important to shed layers when needed(so you dont soak your clothes). For a big portion of the video i'm wearing just a merino wool lightweight t-shirt because i I was exerting myself, as I sweat you could see the sweat vaporizing off with the sun and the cold. When i sat to rest i'd throw on the full blown wool anorak when I felt a tad cold which also breaths really well too(which allows for things to continue to dry). Wool in general is very breathable and also insulates super well...that's why a lot of people like it during the winter. What could turn really sour in winter time is if someone uses cotton shirts and cotton pants, mainly because they don't dry out very well and they lose all their insulation properties once wet I generally try to keep my vids 6-10 minutes max. This was kinda one of those exceptions. I want to occasionally release one that is lengthier. The other way of doing it would have been releasing it in 2 parts over 2 weeks. You know where I'm at in the world, I just hope that I never have to use this method. I dont mind the cold weather, i acutally enjoy it to some degree. Its always good to know things like this. Glad you enjoyed them. That means im doing some stuff right One thing i've had a hard time gauging is how much instruction people want to see vs showing the experience. I don't consider myself an expert in anything I do, so I hope people realize im just a guy with a passion to film, and I like to be out in the outdoors. On occasion I share personal experience or opinion...but I try to mettle less in that just because it seems to draw more criticism from the people that consider themselves "experts". I prefer to share the outdoors while I get out. The pattern I follow with my channel as of now, is i'll be posting a short gear review on tuesdays, and Friday is a video out in the woods.
