I have done a litte of this, but my dad worked for the state dept. road crew and has found all kinds of stuff. Its was amazing to see what all he had found. He once found a ice chest full of beer, pop, and unopened lunch meat. After all day it still had ice in it.

Yes it is surprising what you can find along the road, axe's, crowbar ,tools, binders, metal plate, two wheel dolly just to name a few things I've found.

UncleMorgan I like peeling bananas and (occasionally) people.

I have often thought that if one road-shopped long enough they could build a complete car from the parts they picked up.

Of course it would be sort of a chevodgeordplymondasun, but with the Mercedes hood ornament it oughta look right nice.

When the flatlander comes to Alaska and tries to live with the bears like that idiot a few years ago, do you get to keep the stuff the bears left behind? Seems like it would belong to the bears, not his next of kin, and I guess it is a closed casket funeral after the bear "recycles" him. Kind of a take of on road shopping I think.

@duane Actually the State Troopers went out to the Site, to do the investigation, after the Bush Pilot made his Report... They Killed the Bear, and REMOVED, the contents of his Stomach, and returned that to the State Coroner's Lab, to confirm DNA, of the Victims.... I am NOT sure what happened to the samples, after testing.... He was an very OLD Bear... and on his "Last Legs" and couldn't hunt anymore, so he went for the easy Meal..... Idiot ,and Idiot's GirlFriend....

I watched the documentary on that and he said if that bear got the chance that he was going to eat him.

Very few Bush Planes have Skis, to do Glacier Landings.... That is a REAL Specialty in the Bush Flying community... Now choppers, are a different deal altogether....

The ladder I use most on jobsites, is a road find, and I've lost a few tools on the road, myself. I nice Gerber multitool, and a sawsall, for starters, and about half a socket set. (Side box door opened on the freeway, and cast tools widely.)

35 + years ago I was on my way home and saw this woman standing next to her car with the hood up. This was well before cell phones and I stopped and asked if she needed help. Well the car was totaled, old and bad engine, but we have been married for over 35 years, so I guess that has been my best road find. LOL

I do not road shop, I would be afraid of getting hit by a car. But I will admit to dumpster diving and garbage picking. I have gotten some of the best stuff.

First date with my wife, was a call to AAA. she was a dispatcher there, and I needed a tow truck. The ability to laugh, while I was the victim of a prank, turned her head. ( and she ain't been quite right since then );)
