Aw that's nice. I am a grumpy olde phart who would probably steal the cooler and find a spot in the shade to read a book as I also watched the festivities. Occasionally I would cool off sitting like Buddha shirtless and wearing old folks swim trunks in the center of the sprinkler ring. and .... if you had plenty of goodies for the grill I would be happy to be guest chef upon demand. Come to think of it I may soon have a family party using a few of the items in your pictures. Thanks for sharing.

[IMG] we floated down the Salt river like this, but our coolers were sunk flat in the inner tubes, and lashed in by the handles. In twos, threes and fours, we had a good time, even had a country band on a homemade raft floating along with us, and we played along. Good times.

the Salt River, just don't go during low water and people have very elaborate tubes with boom boxes. It was much more fun without the boom boxes.

Nothing quite like a lazy river float on a summer day...good times for sure!

We would do the cooler bit in the tube as well. If we were packing light, it'd be a couple of mesh dive bags lashed to the side of the tube. Other times, we'd use a closed bottom ski tube and just dump it all inside.

The rivers of the Rockies are not quite the same as what we had down south...unfortunately.

Fly fishers tend to get a little bent when having a good time floating down their gold-medal trout waters [LMAO]

I've actually seen fences stretched across a river. Some of the mountain folk out here are a little strange.

That looks like a good time. Never really got into the whitewater rapids stuff, though I would like to try it some day.

The lazy float trips seemed to be more my speed. Good friends, some cold ones...add a fishing pole and you're set.

You're quite correct; however, that doesn't mean an idiot won't do it. As GrayGhost said mountain folk are kinda different. As I lived among them for 7 years, as their values match mine, I liked them.

    @GrayGhost
The Green is wicked. The kayakers wear helmets and shoulder pads because at times, they bounce off rock walls. When I lived at what we call the mountain house; I hiked down to the Green a few times. It is wild and unspoiled.

As long as they do not deny use of the water.

I used to live near a gated community and I love to fish. I noticed a large pond or small lake at a township park had a brook leading into the gated community. A bud and I parked at the park and in a canoe followed the brook to the lakes in the gated community. I figured the fishing would be good and it was great.
The rich folks saw us fishing and called the sheriff who sent a deputy. He yelled come here and we did and he told us this was private and asked how we got there. I told him where my truck was parked and that we followed the brook. He got a big grin and said that's legal in NC.

You got it, brother. I got lucky and was picked up by a northern automotive company in the South.

It took me two years to get out and head back down South I had to stay a year or repay the relocation. As I refused to register my toys; I left them at my parents house. I brought a 12ga and a .22 with me.

Sorry I missed you answering GrayGhost, No, I wasn't half right as I stated about fishing in the rich folk's lake; I know the law and have the common sense to follow the law.
We only had to get out of the canoe to drag it in a couple of spots. Other than using the paddles to pole the canoe; it was easy.
I must admit both of us and the good old boy sheriff enjoyed it. Even better the fishing was excellent and well worth the sweat equity.
Fortunately, the deputy was wise enough not to bust us which saved the cost of a lawyer.
