This one line says it all... to me anyways

    OldDude49 Just n old guy

Was reading this article and saw this one line of text that says so very much to me about liberal democrat thinking or world view...

well at least to me it does say all the following... and then some I just find I have trouble coming up with the words needed to describe it all...

what I see here is a person that has so little self control... so little true compassion... so little true empathy... for others...

to me this says that all that matters to such a person is THEIR FEELING and THEIR EMOTIONS... even if they tell you otherwise...

and further suggest... that they would act upon their emotional state rather then giving their actions real thought...

it also says to me... rather sadly... because they FEEL this way they project this on to everyone else...

say to me that they believe that everyone else must also feel this way...

which to me says a tremendous amount about their world view or attitude or mind set...

Oh and if you bother to read the article I think you will see what I think is a certain amount of vindictiveness by this person...

what I see happening here is... they don't agree with my views and therefor MUST BE PUNISHED!

Wonder how such a person would react to a prep type person?

Despite this, the author writes, “I don’t know if the student

understands emotions, or what rage feels like. It seems to me no person

who has truly experienced the full impact of their own emotions would

    ever go near a gun.”

    Makes sense.

How can she recommend the student to a program to become an indoctrinator when she is obviously not fully and successfully indoctrinated with the party line?

The old saying, my mind is made up, don't confuse me with any facts holds true.
The liberal, green, LGBT , things are a religion. Save the planet, stop the violence by outlawing guns, I know what is right and you have to conform to my beliefs is true of many religions and at times there doesn't seem to be much difference in the actions of greenpeace and the talaban other than the level of violence.

Actually, let's add those who believe the government should control what one chooses to put in their bodies...

If you could make drug abuse a house arrest kind of thing, where it stayed at home and endangered no one else, enjoy and endulge to your hearts content

But when your ingestions affect the safety of me and mine, then you have made it MY business. (Weather I like it or not).
Given the number of friends I've lost to drugs, and of the two bikes I've lost to drugged drivers in traffic, I well understand the need to regulate those of weak mind and failed decision making capability.
Keep it at home, and I could care less, but bring it to me, and your poor choice becomes my.problem.

On the other hand, some conservatives are morbidly interested in the government controlling what one chooses to remove from one's bodily, to the point of stringently legislating such processes.

A splendid Idea, though it is as like that Wall Street and some Municipal governments would most likely collapse.

Kell, what you and I put into our bodies is our own business...unless some ACTION we take as a result infringes upon the liberty of others. Laws the regulate what you and I can or cannot put into our bodies because of what we MIGHT do as a result are the essence of nanny-statism.

I am sure that there are many drug cartel bosses who would heartily agree. The war on drugs, actually keeps the market price of drugs quite profitable. Harm minimisation and diversion programs distorts the market (and lowers profitability) by lowering demand....can't have that. It's a pity that substance use is seen as a vice, rather than a health issue....warehousing vice ridden sinners is also profitable....that's the nature of market driven free enterprise I guess. :(

What's the difference between the drug cartel bosses and the big pharma bosses? Nothing, but the legality of what they sell.

Both drug cartels and big pharma strive for market share, profitability, they have that in common....big pharma have to deal with the tedious requirements and quality assurance and testing regimes of regulatory bodies that drug cartels don't have to worry too much about. Government intervention plays a significant role in both industries, but bribes, kickbacks, graft, corruption and the occasional assassination usually takes care of that....and that's just talking about the big pharma half of the equation.

Drug cartel bosses and big Pharma bosses are both relentless proponents of those parts of their business enterprises that are licit...and illicit. They both at times act ethically, but also utterly immorally. / amorally.

So you would have no problem with somebody being drunk while on guard Duty? Stoned while operating a crane in an inner city area? On coke while operating on your loved one? Their ACTION is increasing the risk to others.

As long as you aren't killing another human being during the process we don't give a shit what you have removed from your body.

Absurd questions, and you know it. Those actions are like not stopping your fist before it impacts my nose. Those actions invite paybacks. Chimo acknowledges this in post #9. In any case, laws will not stop abuses, but can prescribe punishments for actions occurring during abuse.

Ah.....then starts the quibbling about what constitutes a human being....and whether Rowe v Wade allows a woman the agency to make those decisions on her own behalf, and the liberty to access perfectly licit medical procedures in exercising that self determination.....some meddlesome nanny statist governments would seek to deny the woman her bodily autonomy, even to the detriment of the incubator's own health.

No sir not absurd. We're talking about being impaired while in a position of trust, even if that position is behind the wheel of a car. You are implying that drunk driving should be legal and only prosecute those who crash into others. ( no harm no foul).
So a high-speed Pursuit through a crowded area should not be prosecuted unless somebody gets killed? (The diffrence is only timing and dumb luck).

The leftist argument has now led us here: What’s Wrong With “After-Birth Abortion”?

Where then will it stop? 1 year, 5 years, 18 years? When do you become a human being in the eyes of the left? As soon as you register as a Democrat, perhaps?

Perhaps once Man becomes God, Man becomes the Devil.

Are you opposed to science? Science dictates what it means to be human. Science has determined that life starts at the creation of new dna at the production of the zygote. You don't get to kill the other humans because they inconvenience you, even if you're among the vaunted pc class of female. When congress was debating late term abortion, they couldn't find a single case where the mother's life was in danger. I'd agree that abortion is a fine medical procedure when the mother's life is in danger. Were it only used in those conditions, no one would be quibbling.
I've been a libertarian forever. I've been advocating unregulated drugs for at least twenty five years. Still, both sides of this important debate are often ignored. Libertarians want to pretend we can simply "make things free" without consequence. I worked in torts and liabilities for CPS for a decade, and I'm here to tell you that drugs, even done in one's front room, have very real and very serious impact on society. Marijuana is highly correlated with psychosis. Colorado is crowing about a drop in petty crime right now, who will be around to take responsibility for a five percent rise in psychotic patients in two years? I'm cold enough and calculating enough to have decided that I believe that a few dead druggies beats a bunch of dead people in the crossfire of the drug trade, I'm also honest enough to admit that belief can be shaken if we have a box of dead kids at the hands of a psychotic parent. I still believe in give me liberty or give me death, but we need to be honest enough to admit there will be fallout from that decision.

I ain't so sure how we got to abortions from this line in the OP --
