I had an appointment with my cardiologist yesterday. I've been feeling pretty darn good, but he wanted to do a stress test just to make sure everything was still doing well inside. The radiation nurse/technician injected me with a low dose of Technetium, they did a scan, then gave me more of the isotope, then the stressor stuff, and more scans (a very unfun tes for about 3 minutes or so!). I got about twice as much Te the second time. After the second dose, my NukeAlert started chirping. And chirping. And chirping. It got as high as 3 chirps, then settled down to 2. And it chirped. And chirped and chirped!

The half life of Te is only about 6 hours, so it was down to 1 chirp by the time we got home (a 3 hour drive plus we did some shopping). This morning, it's all quiet. But now I know it works! Probably not the best or easiest way to check it, though! LOL

That is quite interesting. It is one of those things that you do wonder if it works. I hope your stress test went well.

If you go to the dentist hold it on the opposite side of your mouth when they xray. It will chip like crickets.

A good thing it chirps: Too close to your tritium sight, and you'll want to sound like a cricket in Indian country. ;)

Yeah, it's almost silent and there's always that lingering "Is this thing really working?" thought. I tried the freezer test and it took a few minutes to start chirping, but that wasn't "real" if you know what I mean.

Motomom, the test came out great. The stent install is a big success. And my cardiologist again firmly stated that I DO NOT HAVE COPD! Yaay. Only thing is this means I'm wayyyy out of shape and better start working harder on getting in shape. Boo!! Not really boo, that's great news.
