Get out some files and go to work. You'll need to heat treat it when filed to fit --

It sounds like you bought just the firing pin and not the bolt carrier group. This is just a rough sketch, not a production drawing. We're doing a run of about 40K AR15 firing pins right now.

Have you matched it up side by side with another AR15 pin? The pic does not give enough detail such as measurements. Bottom line is, if it don't fit... you been had.

There are variations depending of mfg specs. An Armalite may not have the same spec as a Stag

That is a hell of a question....
@RightHand are you suggesting that my Stag will not take a pin that I bought for my Colt's. I have not tried that with my excess supplies... since they are all mil spec and assumed to be "universal".

Depends, @Yard Dart - did you buy 8 penny or 10 penny BCGs?

Interesting that I bought my firing pins separate from the rest of the BCG's on my piston builds and they worked fine. I assumed the same as you. Perhaps if I knew better they wouldn't have worked?

They probably will but unless not guaranteed. A couple issues come into play. Every parts has a dimensional tolerance. Come may be made on the low side, some on the high side. they most likely will work with no problems. However, there are also tolerances with the bolt bolt that effects the firing pin. the firing pin made for the M16 has a larger collar. Even with Mil Spec parts, there can be subtle differences. the parts can usually be "massaged" and will fit fine but there can be differences

    For those that don't know:
A stage nail is used for assembling temporary wood things like, (and especially) staging (which is more likely known as scaffolding.) In some jurisdictions they are illegal because the extended head can catch on people or stuff carrried or worn while working on the scaffolding. People have lost jobs for using them. Even where legal, it is best to drive them flush as a safety measure. Uv cuss, that sorta makes the extra head useless --
(And I'd still like to see someone file out an AR firing pin from wunna dem tings.)

They are very useful for pinning double sash wood windows in place. With a hole drilled just larger than the nail diameter, they go through both sashes, and the double head makes them easy to adjust.
I use them to lock window air conditioners in place, or set a window for a small gap ventilation.
