Yep, it's now official. I am a certified, card-carrying Old Fart, as of today. I sent in my first Medicare payment. Sheesh! Where did the time go?? It'll kick in July 1. Kajun
When does that happen Ive always been curious what age that occurs. I know it a decade or so from where I am
Old fartdom is not something that one assumes upon having a particular birthday.......it is something that one cultivates and develops...some folk become old farts at a relatively young age...some never become old farts...they wear their youthfulness nigh well until they cark it. Being an old fart is a state of mind, and a way of behaving....it is completely optional.
no...not in denial....just that my cultivation of old fartdom seems to be somewhat slower than some others' efforts....
Salted, sign up for Medicare is best done, as far as I could gather, between 3 months before and 3 months after a person's 65th birthday. You can hold off, but I was told by several sources that there will be a penalty you'll pay every month if you do hold off.....and the penalty will be as long as you're on Medicare. Fortunately, the premiums aren't outrageous..~$120/month, payable quarterly. It seems that Medicare becomes my first insurance and employer's coverage is now second for me. Sweetie and Bunny are covered under my employer's plan as their primary and only insurance coverage. Kajun
Been there, Done that... In Alaska you become an "Old Fart" when you sign up for your Lifetime FREE Hunting, Fishing & Trapping License.... The State figures you are so old, you can't really impact the Fish or Game in the state, the way young Folks can.... Yea, I got one of those...
Congrats and welcome to the club. To celebrate find the nearest 4-lane and run the left lane at 55mph. Not recommended on I-35 Dallas to San Antonio tho. And should probably let a DPS trooper by as well. They get touchy sometimes. Get your medicare card laminated. Seems you'll be needing it more and more now days.
It's great that we can look upon getting physically older with a bit of a sense of humor. I guess that's one of two choices. Personally, I don't care for the other one.
Wait a minute here...you mean I am not only being forced into Medicare...I am going to have to pay for it too? WTF are all these payroll taxes going for then? oo00(ponzi) Guess if it doesn't come before, I'll be making my stand come my 65th birthday...I ain't signing up for or paying them nuthin.
