Think about how many shots you expect to take over, say, a year. If you are basically sticking with hunting loads for a few trips a year, that machine will do you fine. If you are gearing up for trap and skeet, you'll want a more substantial loader.

I mentioned i was looking for something for storage(read preps). I am well aware that if shooting in competition i will need something more robust.

I only do that with pistol and rifle and thats why I run the Dillion 650XL with case feeder.

    In highschool I used a Lee hand loader for 12 & 20.

Primers, powder, powder and shot wads a "hammer" (really) and some wax for those new damn plastic shells.

I had one. It was junk, like most of the Lee presses. Yes I know a lot of people claim to like it, some people claim they enjoy root canals too, doesn't make it true. In a life and death situation, do you really want to say "Gee, I was too cheap to buy a quality product and bought a POS that barely makes a usable shell at five shells an hour?" Of course it is your life and the life of your family, friends, their family, children, etc.

First off, I will not depend on the reloaded shotgun shells to defend.... Thats why I have the 2 Dillons.

I hunted everything for dove, quail, turkey and deer using the Lee hand loader and was very successful using one just like in the video.

So you have actually owned this actual press?

I have used the Lee Load-all for 25 years. For 12 and 20 gauge. They work great, and IMO are perfect for what you are asking @AD1 .
90% of my loading on these are for buckshot and slugs.

Guess you must of either had a bad one or you don't understand how to use it properly. I can load 5 shells of 000/00/slugs in about 5 minutes easy with either one of mine. Oh, and a lot of the shells I load are used in 3 gun matches with no problems in 870's and the Super 90.

I have one, out in the Trading Post... Was given to me 40. Years ago, by my GodFather... Never used it, but he did, and I still have all the stuff to reload the Shells, that he did, with Lead Shot... It waits for me, to get around to messing with it... Someday...

Yes I started out with one and they WILL do the job for what you describe. You do learn patience with them of course. I went from this to a Pacific 366 (now Hornady 366) when I turned up the volume I needed.

first off I have used lee products for over 40 rears and some are going strong even after all these years and yes some women do reload second I use lee load all for all my shotgun reloading and as a defence load I use bb,s third lee makes the widest range of bullet moulds--just got my first 12 gage slug mould and test shooting a loaded one is you have to get the powder that is right to you but my load is good for me---can't go wrong with lee

I have one, I use it for shot, buckshot and slugs, it's not junk. It's also not fast...if you want to load larger quantities faster, try a MEC or Hornady...which will also cost you a lot more.

I have been using the Lee slug mould for many years. They work well, a bit more accurate out of a slug barrel of course but I still have no problems hitting the steel at 100 yrds with them. The Lee is the only slug mould I've ever found. A project for the near future is to mill my own slug mould. Have a friend that said he would write the program for the CNC mill, so we'll see. It would be nice to be able to cast my own Brenneke type slugs.

    You're welcome[winkthumb]

As others have said, if you want faster production and/or want to load a quantity of birdshot you are better off with a different machine. I like the Mec 600. I like low base hulls for my loads. One color for #4 buck, one color for 000,ect. That way I can tell what's in the gun or the ammo carriers at a glance. Can't say enough good about the little Load-all. Compact and light, it and the components needed could easily be put in a small tote for a bug out or cache.

It has a learning curve and if you don't have someone with experience show you how to do it, you can have problems with the crimp. The shell length, powder, shot and plastic wad that go between the shot and powder have to be right, if not the crimp will open up and the shot may fall out. I learned that the hard way with a couple hundred rounds the first time I tried it. There are a couple different lengths of 12 ga shells, and the parts have to fit. It is an awesome tool for preping, both the shotgun shell and the rifle hand loader, but please load and shoot a few rounds while you can make changes and get advise.
