I bought an barrel adapter from a company called Tacticool22 here in Walterville Oregon. They sold the item to be used on a 7.62x39 barrel. Problem is the the inside of the adapter is 3mm smaller then the barrel. I checked on three similar firearms and they are the same internal barrel size the adapter was not. The people seemed nice that worked there they responded fast, have yet to here back on my concern. And looks like their policy is I pay return shipping. I am writing this not to bash the company but to give a reminder if ordering from these guys or from any other company that sells barrel adapters, flash hiders or muzzle breaks do yourself a favor and check the specs with a micrometer. The fit was good as I gave them exact external measurements. They did not ask for internal measurements nor did I think that was needed as min specs should have been fine, however it was way to small to be safe. Use caution sure they are an fine company but this was a concern.
I am also having a lot problems with parts in this new computer operated machine tool world. Big difference in a skilled machinist making the parts by hand and a semi trained individual using NC tools watching parts being made by a machine. Looked up Eli Whitney and the first pattern muskets made with semi inter changeable parts. To make a French pattern musket by hand took 18 skilled man days. With water power and machine tools, he cut it down to a couple days or less with semi skilled labor.
To give an idea how bad the craftsmanship was with the naked eye one can see how of center and how one side is thinner then the other when I put a micrometer on it the gap was off allot . The bad part was the other side the exit was too small for the bullet to exit anyone want to guess what that would have done to my rifle and or me if that was attached and I fired a 7.62x39 out of it? Yes its machines but I am paranoid off anything I get done and just about passed out when I saw the work or lack there of and is why I check everything I get in.. I take my firearms serious very serious and selling an item like this in my opinion spells bad quality control or just not GAS mentality. The more I thought of firing this with these defect the angrier I got thinking injury, death and other permanent damage to my firearm, one I have worked a year on getting just right. GRRRRssss.
I guess it depends on the standards set by management. There is no way that would get out of our shop, guaranteed
I sent the guy at Tacticool22.com the pics now getting the run around anyone know where a good machine shop in Oregon is that does this kinda stuff ? Thanks
Well the guy is not wanting to refund the money, Id post where they are but that is against SV policy I think. They want me to pay to ship it back for a 40.00 part and the big issue they wont man up and simply say the F'ed up. He has the same pic I posted here, and all the details and still say nothings wrong with it. Wow dudes you guys are in the wrong business. I have a real problem with that maybe its how I was raised , but honor means everything and your word. Until I was like 35 I did everything by handshake say I will do something I do it, and if I screw up. I admit it. Thanks for the rant space, I now get to waste my time filing a claim over 40.00 freaking dollars because if I do not then they get away with deceitful practices and I cant let that slide.
Post on there FaceBook page Tacticool22 And also onnthe SW forum Tacticool22 Handguard Converter Nut Post onnthese sites to see if you get a positive reaction
Its cool, I do appreciate your help AD1, I really do. Its something this guys going to have to deal with don't think I will for now go that route give him chance to do the right thing. .( side note ). And I did not not mention I wont send this back because he seems to focused on getting it back it probbaly cost them 8.00 to make, and I am afraid he'll try and resell it and I wont have that on my head. I can imagine them reselling it cause they say nothings wrong and someone gets hurt.
Take this for what its worth.... If the weapon is "legal", i would take it to a machine shop/gunsmith and have it threaded. I Would not trust an adapter on any weapon I own. Just not worth the chance it goes boom in your face.
I know a guy in Sutherlin who does it, I didn't want anything permanent due to not sure what thread size at the moment . 14mm LH is pretty standard for this size but was not 100% sure so wanted to try the adapter. ( wont be doing that again )/
Update from Tacticool22.com, so I pretty much dropped the situation a week ago he kept my money and I have a part I can't use. All is over and done or was it ??, today I get a call from Douglas County Sheriff Detective, I kid you not. The owner of this place called the police because the item was " NOT " returned was his claim ok so what ?? you have my money, why the police? He must have led them to believe I had not paid for the item. Well didn't take the detective long to realize I did everything I could to resolve it with them and was shocked I paid for it because I could tell he was now wondering why was he even bothering me at this point. But it now makes sense why they called they thought I didnt pay for the item ( hmm wonder how they got that impression ). I am not writing this to bash this company. But I am saying use caution if you do, lying to police is not cool and making me look like I am a thief was also not so be careful with online sales. I am not sure what the deal is with this company and only saying something because this is a warning for me when businesses act erratic. I told the officer so it didnt waste as much of his time as it had, I would email the company back if he thought it was a good idea and give them one more chance to pay to have it shipped back and refund my money, the Detective helped and said he would call and tell the company this too. I would have liked to have heard that call after him lying to the police, think of all the time wasted taking the report, now making calls and all over a $40.00 part already paid for that I gave up on a week ago. I have yet to hear from the company accepting the resolution, and doubt I will but I took the high road at each intersection and this is how it works out when you do, you are doing the right thing and police can back you up. Guys if ordering online from people you have not before, get records keep emails and get receipts is the moral of this story, funny I get the wrong part and bilked out of 45.00 and then they call the cops on me ? Must be a liberal run company is my guess.
I know I was being factious, and a smart arse. Figured I was entitled. Although we have Prozanski whom thinks the fact he owns a gun makes him pro-gun.
Did you know that the name Prozanski actually means "I'm a pompous, self absorbed, self righteous, Constitution hating twat"?
