Our Government needs heroin to help control the sheep as well as provide a black-market currency because the fiat dollar just doesn't work by itself.

I have come to the conclusion that real police work is too much work for the police. The would rather be handing out traffic code violations and confiscating property.
If the left succeeds in banning firearms in this country, the cartels will have a new product to smuggle and send to market. If it's illegal, whatever it is, they'll fill the demand.
A rash of states are going to legalize weed so that will be a huge hit to their revenue stream. I would rather the state have that money than the drug cartel.
