I’m not sure if there is any good or easy way to say this, so I’m just going to come right out and say: We are thru! We are done, I am finished with you, it’s time for us to separate. I know, I know, that you are going to try to remind me of all the good times we had together, but lately, I have been losing respect and any feelings for you.

I remember when it all started. I remember the first time we met during the campaign of 1976. I was young and naive when you told me that Gerry Ford was the best man for the job. Well, that didn’t go over very well, now did it. But I stayed with you.

The next time was the time when you hit the jackpot. Ronald Reagan was the man whom you told me would bring us back to greatness and restore prosperity in our land. Boy, were you right! I sat back and watched him transform the land, make us prosper again, and restore America’s greatness across the globe. Sure he screwed up a couple of times, but that wasn’t the point. The point was that he made us feel better about ourselves and got us to believe in ourselves and our country again. I was proud and happy to stay with you.

I wasn’t to sure about your next pick, George H.W. Bush. I was hoping that him being part of the Reagan administration for eight years might have rubbed off on him. But you told me that it was OK and that he was as conservative as Reagan was. Good thing for you that you were right. I dutifully put on my uniform and served in his Persian Gulf war against Saddam Hussein. Maybe I missed it but this was the time that the cracks in our relationship began to surface. The campaign of 1992 was a tough one and, even tho we lost, I still stayed with you.

During the 2000 campaign the cracks began to get deeper. I wasn’t too sure about George W. Bush because he really didn’t sound like a conservative. He told me he was a “compassionate conservative”. When I asked you what that was, you told me to never mind and just vote for him, because, if I didn’t,we’d have Al Gore which was suppose to be worse. So I listened to you, held my nose and voted for Bush. It didn’t really turn out that bad. In spite of the fact he ran up the deficit, and got us involved in two unwinnable wars, I will always remember him as the rock and the glue that held this country together after 9/11. So I stayed, not really wanting too.

I can honestly say that the 2008 campaign was when I really noticed the divide between you and me, my gentle GOP. We lined up conservatives that we wanted, only to be told that Lame John McCain was to be our standard bearer. I got more enthusiasm popping a zit on my face than I did for McCain. When I protested you told me to be quiet. You tried to scare me by telling me that it was either McCain or a Democrat who would be worse. So I lowered my head and voted the way you told me and we lost. The same happened in 2012 with Granite Mitt Romney. Again he was suppose to be the best man to upend Obama, but he too lost. I stayed with you but I don’t know why.

Now comes the election of 2016. You decided that the Cheetos Man is to be our standard bearer. A con artist, a liar, a braggart, a Democrat in Republican clothing, and everything else I find despicable in a candidate. You keep telling me that if I don’t fall in line and vote for Donald “Sandman” Trump, than the Democrat will win which will be worse for us. You know what, GOP, I’ve heard this song before, too many times. To be honest with you, I don’t care if Hillary wins. I am tired of having to always shelve my principles to that you can win and keep your power and money.

So, GOP, we are done. I don’t know where I am going to go. Maybe out there is a party that believes that principles are more important than winning. Maybe I will be done with politics, I don’t know. God knows that being involved really hasn’t gotten me anywhere. Besides being done with you, GOP, another thing I know is that this country will survive. It will survive because there are more people out there who stand for something. If you stand for something you won’t fall for anything. A lesson that I had to learn the hard way with you, GOP.

    Goodbye and Farewell, GOP!

I agree with most of the sentiments, but with enough attitudes like that, Hillary will be the next president.

I actually quit the Republican Party in 2012 when Romney was pushed down our throat, resigning from my position with the district committee and as a delegate to the state convention.

However, though it will require holding my nose (possibly with superglue), I will vote for Donald because this time there really is a greater evil that must be defeated.

This election, the vitriol between the parties is unbelievable.
Lots of democrats don't like their chosen candidate.
Lots of republicans don't like their chosen candidate.
But they will still vote for their candidate .. because they always have in the past.

This election, probably 75% of the population is not going to like the elected president if you figure half of the winning parties supporters don't like their candidate.

This would be a great year for a strong 3rd party candidate, They could actually win if the anyone but Hillary, and never trumpers plus the undecided voted for say .. Gary Johnson (who is going to be on the ballot in all 50 states).

Is Johnson a perfect candidate .. does his views 100 percent match an ideal libertarian? Nope, but I think he's good enough for a start to break up the 2 party system where we wind up voting for the lessor of two evils every 4 years.

Alas, we are not going to get the president we want, but we will get the president we deserve if the collective we the people vote for the lessor of two evils and not our conscience.

Never underestimate the power of the misguided masses. They'll vote wrong even if they have the facts staring them in their faces.

This is going to come true with sentiments like that. Or with people voting a third party candidate to make a statement because they dont like Trump.

Saw it on opening day Friday. Everyone should see that movie if they have doubts about voting Trump or not voting at all.....

Frankly, I think this was Democrat propaganda but I sure understand where it is coming from... Look, I do not like the GOP and in honestly they are as bad as the Democrats - worse actually, because they say one thing then do nothing or do the opposite. Actually, I would vote Libertarian but just can't chance splitting the vote and Hillary winning. I say this hoping that the election isn't rigged...which I think it is but I am still in denial. Nevertheless, I will vote and I will vote for Trump because he does have some good points, a lot in fact, and I do not want to split the vote. If it was anybody but Hillary then I would vote Libertarian. I would say that within 5 years most people on this forum with find themselves in some sort of trouble with the Federal government if Hillary wins. She will definitely go after the 2nd Amendment and has made that clear. As President, she will have all the resources and power to bring about the end to the only thing that ensures what few freedoms that remain safe. Plus, she will stock the Supreme Court against future generations. I have been preparing hard for when she is elected but a piece of me will not accept it and I still hold out hope she isn't elected.

Trump is what happened when the GOP establishment ignored the requests for reform from it's constituents. It's been obvious for a long time that the GOP does not represent the values of its party membership.

We all get that while the GOP panders to us somewhat to get our votes - the support of the 2A as an example, but in practice they are no different the the DNC leadership. They did everything they could to undermine reforms such as those presented by the Tea Party and others. Trump was chosen and won with the largest majority of votes in the history of their primaries due to voter frustration.

IMO Trump may not be perfect, but he is willing to roll up his sleeves and get to work and he will get results. The only other option if Hillary who will get to appoint five new Supreme Court justices and WILL destroy the 2A before she moves on the the 1A, the 4A and all the rest of them.

Seems some changes are being made?

Even as the GOP establishment drifts ever leftward, mutating into a “progressive” monstrosity nearly indistinguishable from its DNC Capital Club drinking buddies, a group of conservative delegates has crafted what’s being called “the most conservative Republican Platform in history.”

By the grace of God, this platform was adopted in toto this past week at the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

Now, to unify the Republican Party and admit into triage an America on the precipice of total collapse (and to put us on the road to recovery), nominee Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress should immediately pledge to implement every plank of the platform over the next four-to-eight years, reversing that which may already be irreversible – the “fundamental transformation” of America (read: the intentional and treasonous sabotage of this once great nation) at the hands of Barack Hussein Obama, America’s executive enemy within.

If Mr. Trump will make a very public guarantee that, if elected, he will work tirelessly to implement the 2016 GOP platform, such pledge, followed by subsequent overt acts, would go a long way toward winning over his many remaining conservative naysayers. Who knows? Even National Review might hold its nose and hop the Trump Train.

America can’t afford this platform to be ignored as simply a wish list of soaring platitudes intended to placate the conservative base of the GOP. It must be adopted and implemented as the blueprint for America’s future.

While in no way comprehensive, here are key platform planks. Headings are my own:

San Francisco-style social engineering vs. national defense

“We believe that our nation is most secure when the president and the administration prioritize readiness, recruitment, and retention, rather than using the military to advance a social or political agenda. Military readiness must not be sacrificed on the altar of politically correct social agendas, which this administration has done.”

Obama’s repeal of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” and his housing of men in miniskirts (transgender) in the ladies barracks has done more to destroy troop morale and unit cohesion than any other weakening of our U.S. military. Homosexual rapes are now at an all-time high as a result.

Obama has also launched a wholesale attack on Christianity in the ranks of the armed services. This must be stopped.

Right to freedom of health care conscience

“We likewise support the right of parents to consent to medical treatment for their children, including mental health treatment, drug treatment, and treatment involving pregnancy, contraceptives and abortion. We urge enactment of pending legislation that would require parental consent to transport girls across state lines for abortions.”

This would also secure the right of children who have been sexually abused to seek necessary therapy from a licensed therapist to address the root cause of unwanted same-sex attractions that often result.

    Authentic marriage

“The American family is the foundation of civil society and the cornerstone is marriage, the union of one man and one woman. … we do not accept the Supreme Court’s redefinition of marriage and we urge its reversal, whether through judicial reconsideration or a constitutional amendment returning control over marriage to the States.”

Christians are under attack due to this absurd SCOTUS opinion. It has pitted government against the free exercise of religion and will result in millions of motherless and fatherless children. Until this plank is implemented, civil disobedience is the only option.

    Socialized medicine

“Any honest agenda for improving health care must start with repeal of the dishonestly named Affordable Care Act of 2010: Obamacare. It weighs like the dead hand of the past upon American medicine.”

Obamacare was designed to fail and usher in socialized medicine. It’s a disaster and must be repealed and replaced posthaste.

    Right to not be murdered

[IMG]“The Constitution’s guarantee that no one can ‘be deprived of life, liberty or property’ deliberately echoes the Declaration of Independence’s proclamation that ‘all’ are ‘endowed by their Creator’ with the inalienable right to life. Accordingly, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to children before birth. We oppose the use of public funds to perform or promote abortion or to fund organizations, like Planned Parenthood.”

    Gender pretenders and Title IX

“We emphatically support the original, authentic meaning of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. It affirmed that ‘no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.’ That language opened up for girls and women a world of opportunities that had too often been denied to them. That same provision of law is now being used by bureaucrats – and by the current president of the United States – to impose a social and cultural revolution upon the American people by wrongly redefining sex discrimination to include sexual orientation, or other categories. The agenda has nothing to do with individual rights; it has everything to do with power. They are determined to reshape our schools – or entire society – to fit the mold of an ideology alien to America’s history and traditions. Their edict to the States concerning restrooms, locker rooms and other facilities is at once illegal, dangerous, and ignores privacy issues. We salute the several States which have filed suit against it.”

    Judicial tyranny

“The rule of law is the foundation of our Republic. A critical threat to our country’s constitutional order is an activist judiciary that usurps powers properly reserved to the people through other branches of government. … We believe in the constitutional checks and balances and that the Founders intended the judiciary to be the weakest branch. We encourage Congress to use the check of impeachment (emphasis mine) for judges who unconstitutionally usurp Article I powers. In tandem with a Republican Senate, a new Republican president will restore to the Court a strong conservative majority that will follow the text and original meaning of the Constitution and our laws. … Judicial activism that includes reliance on foreign law or unratified treaties undermines American sovereignty. …”

I’m proud to say that this plank was drafted by my sister-in-law, RNC committeewoman and delegate Cynthia Dunbar. Judicial activism has led to judicial tyranny. A “living, breathing” constitution is no constitution at all. It’s time to impeach all “progressive” judges and justices who abuse the sacred authority given them to legislate from the bench and impose a radical ideology on the American people that resembles nothing our Founding Fathers could have imagined.

As someone who remains a vocal critic of Donald Trump, yet recently moved from “Never Trump” to “Maybe Trump,” I can say with certainty that a promise to implement the 2016 Republican Party platform in its entirety will win over many conservatives. Hillary Clinton simply must not take the Oval Office.

God willing, and with a GOP Congress in toe, Mr. Trump might then become the leader many hope he will by governing with the GOP platform as his executive guidepost.

To Unify the GOP Trump Must Embrace the Party Platform
